Bumped so no-one misses it!

Thanks for all the time and effort you're spending on this. The drawings really brought it into reality for me. Excited to get at least one of these in hand whichever way it goes, spear or clip. Just out of curiosity, are the color differences because you are considering a couple different handle versions or just the evolution of the drawing to show placement of the pins?

I will be one or several either way, but I definitely prefer the clip point. Pretty much every HJ which I own has a spear, and IIRC, the only CC SFO HJ with a clip point was #6, so a clip point would be a nice change. I also think that it is a better blade in general for a traditional HJ pocket knife.

Charlie's "draft drawing" has a clip point, which might be a clue what he was thinking. Maybe he had to do a vote . . . but I guess I selfishly wish he hadn't. :o

But regardless, I am all in for this knife.

Doh! I've been using Tapatalk on my phone and iPad, and it didn't show the poll. Your note made me go look at the page through a normal browser. Now it's suddenly there. Thank you. [emoji1303]

That's GEC's drawing. Hopefully they might even make a prototype this year :) I'm sure Charlie will let us know his own preference, if he has one, without anyone having to look for 'clues' as to his thinking

Well, I try to keep this process as democratic as practicable, so I ask for input in these polls. My personal preference is indeed a clip blade, but I am one of 300-350 people who would like to buy a knife or two! I try not to use undue influence, but it is like walking a tightrope!
I enjoy the conversations here as they inform me greatly, so keep them up in your usual tactful and considerate manner my friends!!
:D

I'm more concerned with whether or not the main blade is pinchable a than anything else, which probably explains my prediliction for a nice clip (although there are pinchable spears).

5 more days to vote and already 181 have committed themselves to this year's Forum Knife, impressive numbers.

Yeah, and the rest of the year, it's just the usual 2 dozen or so posters!

Oh, you know some people are going to drop out when they don't get the handle, shield or steel they want. Does anyone know how many voted in the first thread last year?

I voted for a spear blade, however, the clip looks very good on the GEC drawings.

Have to admit, I really enjoyed last year (and my first). The banter, spins and complete changes of direction. While I was just one vote, I ended up buying a second for my son so he could have something with a story for down the road. If I have the funds at the time, I'll probably do the same again this year.

A spear seems the more complimentary blade shape when there's a pointy awl at the other end. Still, I'm in no matter what.

With any future polls, would it be possible to make them 'public' rather than 'private', unless anyone has any objections? I believe they've generally been like that in the past

I don't know if this is possible, but I think it'd be useful to be able to see how many votes are cast by regular users of the Traditional subforum, and how many are cast by newer members, who've not previously shown an interest in traditional knives, and who may not actually purchase the chosen knife. I am normally logged in automatically, and my settings take me straight to this forum because I rarely post anywhere else. However, I think I'm right in saying that anyone going to the forum homepage (or anyone browsing new posts) would come across this forum in a different way. When I was a new member, and the last time I looked at the front page, polls were displayed prominently, and were often items of fun, inconsequential matters which anyone might vote on without giving much thought to it. Obviously, for those of us who are regular posters here, these polls are important, and they also relate to a significant item of expenditure (the overall cost of our order), so it'd be good to know that the votes cast accurately reflect the wishes of forum users, and that if the eventual choice is supported by 130 votes for example, at least 130 knives (and hopefully more) will be ordered
