2016 forum knife ordering thread - SOLD OUT

Received mine here in Alaska today! Many, many thanks to Barry for getting these out so fast. Very much appreciated.

I was anxious to see if I had the punch problem. Spear blade opened pretty easily, but punch wouldn't budge. So, I left the spear open and was able to open the punch, but very difficult. I worked the punch back and forth and it started to smooth out (encouraging), but still couldn't open with the spear blade closed. I sprayed some "Hornady's One-Shot Gun Cleaner & Dry Lube" into the punch pivot. Worked it back and forth (not all that many times) and it smoothed out. I could now open it with spear blade closed. Since that worked so well, I sprayed the spear, as well, making it even smoother. Now, everything works smoothly. (Hoppes has something called Medic Cleaner and Lube which might also work but I didn't try it. Hornday came with a small diameter nozzle that would fit right in).

Bottom line, my knife works fine and I'm very pleased. A beautiful piece of work. Love those jigged scales. Don't know for sure, but am thinking I might go ahead and use it. Looks like a real workhorse; I like both the spear blade and the punch. Thanks to all who made this possible. I'm one happy guy!

And is that a punch, or a shiv?

So, so pointy! :D

No punch issues for me. Everything's A-Ok.

Love the pattern (have several older) and this one looks like a great and modern classic! Willing to risk my luck on any issues. My first time buying a forum knife (when released as i not good at paying attention) and this one is a beauty. Cant wait to get it :)

Oh, and on mine, the punch was just a bit sticky for the first few openings and closings. Actually the very first pull took quite a bit force. Then it smoothed right out with a bit of cleaning. I'm a happy camper.

got mine today, handsome looking knife but butter knife dull & needed to use a small screwdriver to open the punch.
QC not doing their job in Titusville

got mine - once I cleaned the burr off the flat side of the punch (3 or 4 light swipes with a fine diamond hone) it closes just fine.
action on both blades is great.
stropped the blade and it wipes hair right off my arm.
I consider both of these actions pretty much SOP for any knife I purchase, so no complaints here.

already riding in my front right pocket.
good job GEC and thanks to all who made this a possibility.

I had pretty much the same experience. I'm going to try the gun oil trick myself with some Break-Free CLP. Both blades are nice and sharp. The punch is downright wicked. The jigging has a bit less relief than I'm used to with GEC, but I think they were trying to mimic an old style less than improving on it.

I guess I got lucky. Mine arrived today, no issues with the punch, I'd call the pull about a 6. The spear's edge needed a bit of attention, but was much better than some I've received. Overall, the knife is beautiful. I'm not a spearpoint fan, but I'm going to carry this one for a while and see how it goes. Thanks to all who made this possible.

Mine came today (Friday). It is quite lovely. I am very impressed.

No problem opening the punch without disturbing the blade. I won't trouble you with photos because mine don't come out that well. Thanks to everyone who had a part in bringing this project to fruition.

Mine arrived yesterday. Thanks to all that were involved. Does anyone know what the PPP stands for on the main blade?

I think it is Pattern Production Premiere - GEC puts this on the first run of a pattern (based on readings here at BF).

Received mine yesterday as well. Super happy with it. Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen!

Received and functional. No issues here thankfully! Wonderful blade for my first, and certainly not my last, traditional folder from GEC.

Mine started out not far from me, but it has apparently traveled down to California for some reason. I'll keep checking the tracking, eventually it will come back north I am sure.

I beieve that's where they were ordered from and ship from. They aren't drop shipped from GEC. It is a very nice knife btw.

The Rover ambled into the cornfields today - and it's a beauty!

A few quick pictures, and now I will CE and CF the knife while enjoying the nice, cool evening.

Thanks again to all who worked hard to make this knife happen, mine is a beauty and it has found a nice, permanent home.

Here's a quick group family shot I put together.

I received my Drover yesterday, I think it turned out exceptionally nice.
I like the size, shape, blade, awl, and color and jigging of the scales.
The tube is a work of art in itself and is a nice bonus.
Thank You to the Craftsmen and Craftswomen of Great Eastern Cutlery, Charlie, Liam, Barry
and everyone who was part of making our 2016 Blade Forum knife a reality.
