2016 forum knife ordering thread - SOLD OUT

It seems there just a small percentage of the original run that had the punch-pinch issue, and those that have the problem have resolved the problem or sent them in for warranty work. The 'fix' requires very little stock removal, so I doubt the slight modification will be very noticeable, but if you want them to be exactly the same, I have a few of Charlie's at GEC for the warranty work, or check the exchange for a BF un-modded example.


There are still a few 2016 BF knives available that will have the factory warranty work completed - count is at 51 remaining, but once they start shipping to individuals and get fresh reviews, they will disappear quickly. A word to the wise.

sounds good! thanks for the update Barry, I guess ill just wait for mine to get in. It was part of the later batch so im sure it probably got the fix. Not a big deal.

Edit. I think my knife just needs a good flush. Seems like the joint had some grit in it.

Really hoping those of us still waiting hear they shipped from GEC this week.

Seems like they did half the order, were off for a week, and moved on to another production item. I know they are adjusting the punch issue but it's been over 2 weeks now for the remaining orders.

Very disappointed with GEC for this half now half later production.

Appreciate the updates though Gunstock. 👍

Half now and half later is not GEC's usual method; they are producing the Boy's Knife as well as the Beer Scout and the TC Barlow, as well as trying to please all of us knife nuts here on BF. Not to mention the fact that they were closed for a week for maintenance during this time. Realize that our order of a few club knives is not GEC's 'bread and butter' and that we are lucky to have them willing to work with us. I'm sure they are doing their best so please be patient.

After consulting with my Magic Eight Ball, it seems likely we will be getting the rest soon, as early as later this week (no promises). :)

wooo! :thumbup: at least it didnt say ask again later :D
 
I just received 50 of the 'modded' version of the BF knife, and they open and close perfectly! The punch blade now has a nicely rounded back and easily clears the master blade. :)

I will be busy shipping these 50 tomorrow and if everything goes as planned, the rest will go out in the coming week. :D

No problem with my forum knife of the first batch before any problem was noticed.
I love the needle sharp awl... Be careful. It will stick.

truth!
we used the awl last weekend as a hole starter on a flat pack dresser.
SWMBO was impressed enough I wasn't totally sure I was getting it back.
