2016 forum knife ordering thread - SOLD OUT

This absolutely. I never ship hard items in an envelope of any value. Items of value always go in a box with some sort of padding to keep it from touching the edges. Not that boxes cant get caught and crushed but I worked in a distribution center with miles of conveyors and it was 99/100 the soft items that always got caught and destroyed.
You should tape the item to the box interior too.

This is something I worried about when I returned mine to GEC for the punch mod. Return instructions called for return in the tube. Wish they hadn't. I shipped it back in an express mail box to lessen the chance of damage 50%. Three trips in an envelope seemed like tempting fate.

Guys, just to reassure you, I have had less loss with the envelope shipping than with small Priority flat rate boxes.

I have only lost one knife shipped in a padded mailer since I started in 2011, where I have lost or had stolen at least three small priority box mailers, in spite of sending many more padded envelopes. If the item is caught in the USPS machinery, no thin piece of cardboard is going to survive any better than an envelope. Anyway, that is my personal experience, and besides, they are much easier to ship, as Priority boxes have a habit of popping open unless securely taped.

Anyway, I will replace those lost or damaged by the PO. :)

Package size does not seem to matter: :eek::eek:

Fortunately the contents were more or less intact. :)

Thats interesting! thanks for the info. Looks like the chance of damage is small given the volume you are shipping. Just my paranoia I guess. Nice to know that you have extra tubes just in case. Thanks!

I just finished taking the last of the orders up to the PO! Whoooo-hooooo! :D:D:D

You should get tracking info assuming your email addy is correct on the order, so please don't email me asking for the tracking numbers. Thank you!

After all have shipped, looks to be about 30 left - all have the mod. :)

Sweet...............
Mine were shipped from Washington state on Saturday and less than 48 hours later they were happily at home in the southern part of Alabama.
They came in a hard box and thankfully, all made it just fine. :D

These are very nice knives and a big "Thank You" to every one who made this happen..... Y'all did a fantastic job!!!!

I received mine yesterday. I will be looking forward to seeing that handle on a "cattle knife". :D

Barry-Thanks again, for all your trouble. Mine's on the way :D I can't believe! how badly mangled some of these are, that must be sooo frustrating! Especially for a small business owner. All the extra work on that alone has to be somewhat maddening, another outfit messes up your good work. Sorry to see that, just freaking deplorable. (Stronger language may be inserted as required). ;)
Thanks so much, Neal

Thanks guys! It's always nice to hear positive feedback. A few lost/damaged packages are expected, unfortunately.

There is a lot of work involved behind-the-scenes in the yearly process of producing the BF knife, taking about 8-9 months to get it all together. Charlie (waynorth) really does the lion's share of work as far as production, along with member input, spending hours on the phone with Bill Howard, in this case. Of course GEC is instrumental in the production, and kudos to Bill and the crew for helping make our project a reality. I hope they are willing to contribute in the future. Thanks also to Liam for his label design, which is always a last minute rush project; great job!

Yup, thanks again Barry for all the hard work and follow up. Pkg on its way. I'll send you an email with the tracking number.

I know this year's knife had its hiccups, but I just want to say again how much I appreciate all you put into this Charlie and Barry. It really is a privilege to get to take part in the process and and in this community, and especially to have a physical representation of that process.

I am privileged to be a small part of the process. On behalf of Charlie and myself, I thank you!:thumbup:

I just got my BF knife today (posted pics in the other thread). The more I look at it, the more perfect it looks and feels. This has been said many times before but can't be said enough. So I will say it in every way I can. To all who made this knife possible, thank you... gracias... mercí... salamat po!!!

I forgot to mention, guys, that there is a red dot on the bottom lid of the tube of the 2016 BF indicating the punch blade has had the back rounded at the factory. :)
