I am sure this is going to be a great knife no matter what is chosen, but Grooved bolster would Greatly enhance an already beautiful knife for just the price of a couple of McDonalds meals. Come on a join us 'Grooved Bolster Guys' and save a few calories while your at it.;)

I have read both sides of the debate, personally I prefer plain & voted that way.
Either way it will be a great knife that the group designed- not a take it or leave it like last one.
I'm in for two this go round.

If someone told you they could get you a brand new US made 2-blade knife, with a high end steel, knobby elk handles, full flat grind blades, custom tang stamp, long pulls, and grooved bolsters, all for right around $100, most people would say "what's the catch?". It seems too good to be true. I think the grooved bolsters are well worth the cost.

To put it another way, if the prices were not shown at the beginning of this poll, I think a lot more people would have voted grooved right out of the gate. Perhaps it was the $80 price tag that swung the vote, because most members here were expecting the ~ $100 mark anyways.

I was on the ungrooved boat originally for a few reasons #1 no leather slip w/ grooved and #2 $80 knife like this but more my mind stewed over it the more I began to advocate for the grooved it just to me makes sense. The grooves will make this knife stand to the level it belongs and remain at an incredible price.

We have been over the $100 mark before & Spark approved it for GEC, it would not be fair if it is knocked down for that reason to Buck or the members.

To be honest, I don't see why various categories should be aggregated if the final tallies are along the lines they are now (grooved/cardboard is up 4.6% over ungrooved/cardboard). To me, that's a solid win. If it ends up flipping the other way, same deal. People that have voted for other categories have had ample opportunity to change their votes. If it comes down to a vote or two, OK, but, otherwise, a W is a W is a W...

If that would have been prefaced as the case, then I would agree with you. However, the understanding has been a holistic approach combining grooved together and not grooved together. If the understanding would have been 100% universal, then your method would work, however, people have been able to "risk" a vote for their desire without it impacting the outcome as you have suggested.

Curious why people are totally up the votes grooved vs not grooved. I must of missed a post somewhere? Is SK planning on adding up the grooved and non grooved counts? I assumed this was a regular poll where the most votes win.

Edit: answer popped up at the same time as my question - that's handy :)

I never have seen the pictures of grooved vs. non-grooved bolsters. Can someone point them out to me?

That was nuts. I'm happy, because now I'm going to get one. Grooves would have been the last straw for me.
