Tell that to my wife! You're not married to a woman with a cast iron skillet named El Diablo! I want to keep my head in its normal shape. Without a flat spot the same size as the skillet.

In reality, my wife is a sweetheart and I want to keep it that way.
Just learn to boil water to the perfect temperature and practice running from the bathroom to the kitchen instead of buying the water heater. See you don't always have to spend money to solve problems :p

Time to bite the un-bitable bullet again :(

Lost opportunity for distinction and greatness - which are eternal. The penny pinchers spoil the ship for a ha'poth of tar  If somebody had said to Leonardo, save money on paint and time it's just a picture of a chick, would it be the same Mona Lisa? ;):D
I would venture that the vast majority that voted for no grooves are not penny-pinchers, but simply preferred non-grooved bolsters. Be a good sport and let it go!

shout-out to skblades skblades for getting us this far. Well done sir and I look forward to this in the future.

Maybe there could be a grooved buck in a future offering with some less expensive covers and such to bring prices back down to the Spark's target.

Truth be told, while I have my preferences there were so many great options that I'll be happy to get whatever the collective decided upon. I'm traditionally not a fan of stag or similar covers but there's so much awesomeness in this knife that I'm still quite excited for it. Having a knife NOT have carbon blades or 420HC (or similar) is exciting.

+100

I'd be up for that. Be nice to spend more on the steel, too. 20CV would be something special.

Before the end, i switched over to grooved. But was good either way, and am happy about saving $23. That's 10 mcchickens and 10 mcdoubles, roughly. That's a lot of meals. Grooved would have been nice. If any of the handle materials i voted for would have won the vote would have gone all out with grooves/extras, but elk didn't really want so didn't want to add $23 to a knife I'm not sure going to keep when get in hand. I'm sure it will be a fine example of a Buck tho. I would very much like to see another Buck as the BF forum knife again. Thanks again skblades for putting this together.

I do think it was penny pinching in the sense that many people weren't moved enough by the thought of grooved bolsters for the added cost they were projected at. I think if the cost of adding bolsters was roughly half say $12 we would have seen a much larger swing in favor of them. We are where we are and we have the results we have so not much we can do but look forward and those desiring grooves can look into modification methods and people to get those grooves.

skblades skblades Why not 250 of both? Easy bet at the current count. I’d take one of each or two of one but certainly two.

As always, thanks for stepping up to this task.
We could have a poll that represents purchasers no voting if you can't/won't vote. Options being # you plan to by so multiply votes for each option by the count it represents and total if we hit 500 then we split it 250 ungrooved and 250 grooved. Yay an idea for more voting :D

Wow....penny-pinching is kind of harsh and it's doesn't really fit in the spirit of this whole thing to call people out like that. How about the fact that I just don't think they would add to this particular knife?? I was unaware that so many of us were poor peasants with no "groove-money" to throw around. I really didn't care either way, but I voted for what I wanted.

By the way, shout out to the ONE other person that voted with me....you, my friend, have good taste :thumbsup::thumbsup:

True I wouldn't really call it penny-pinching but I do believe cost was a major factor for people. Some maybe didn't think they would be able to scrape together $100+ others probably didn't see it as enough added value to justify the +$23 projected cost increase. That certainly doesn't cover all those who voted non-grooved some certainly had a complete preference for non-grooved.

Now that non-grooved took the final poll I would love to get the leather slip back on the table even as just an add-on and would be fine paying a little more for it than the $7 quoted in the poll.

I think you guys are reading too much into @Will Power's mirth.

As anyone should know, mirth, sarcasm, and overall good fun can be difficult to articulate in a written sense and can be interpreted far differently than what was intended. I don't believe Will meant any offense but I am also used to his communication style.

I will point out though, that cost was a rather significant factor in deciding grooves or no grooves as the grooved option added some serious expense per knife and there were many here expressing that concern so it isn't an entirely invalid point that Will was making, whether he meant it in jest or not. Penny-pinchers may be an offensive label (I guess) but I hardly associate that term with being poor. Frugality does not necessarily equate to poverty.

Anyway, if that was a TL;DR statement, I am simply stating that what Will was saying was in good fun and there is no need to get your hackles up. We finally have a knife to order! Be merry!

I love this idea. We can do the non grooved option at the $87 with the blade forum tang stamp and 2 dots as the official BF knife. Then, we can do the grooved option for $164.99, without any BF stamping as a separate offering. Badabing! :D Ha, I jest, but that's a realistic price for that knife.

The Democratic Knife of 2018. I would have been happy with either grooved or smooth bolsters. Either way the knife would be special, and as it is, I may purchase two for the first time because of the price point.

Thanks for all you’ve done SKB to Shepherd this along. It’s been much smoother and friendlier than certain past years.

I’m going to miss the polls and close outcomes now. Maybe even go through withdrawals. How about one more, just because? Bolsters: CPM154 vs. Zdp-189 vs. Elmax? :D Please??!!

I wasn’t going to say anything further, but wait for the ordering instructions. But...It will be a beautiful knife at a more than fair price. Nothing further can be gained by attacks on anybody’s motivation. “You can’t always get what you want,” etc.

My only suggestion for the future is, if there is a hard and fast limit to what it will cost, and once it’s found that a feature will create a cost over run, then that feature should no longer be considered.

If we're going to do a steel bolster poll, don't forget to include the color case hardened carbon steel option. :D (with blued back springs)

So in one day the grooved option has just inflated in value by $60.99 and it hasn't/won't even be built!!
