Funny how some people can be considered condescending and then some are just having good fun. I, for one, don't appreciate being told why I voted for a particular option. It is what it is though. I'll be happy when this moves forward and everyone can move on...

Maybe there's some of that "if someone can't make the obvious choice, they must be ... fill in the blank" thinking going on. Add that to some disappointment in the result and the difficulty of getting emotion across in writing and you've got potential problems. People like different things and that's a good thing. We ended up with something in the middle and it's going to be really nice. Time to start pestering skblades to take our money.

Well said. There were a lot of variations that would have been really cool and unique, so we take the good with the bad. I haven't been this excited about a knife in a long time..

For those of you who are unaware of the proverb that Will has alluded to above, it means this for the most part:

"Don't risk the failure of a large project by trying to economize on trivial things."

Since that hardly seems applicable in this situation, I still contend that Will likely made his comments in jest. Anyone can feel free to interpret differently until he feels the need to clarify or not.

Anyone can be disappointed in the outcome of a vote, and we have certainly seen a fair amount of disappointment across the board, over all the stages of polling. With the diversity of opinions, interests, etc, it is nigh impossible to make everyone happy. I lost out on some of my choices, yet I succeeded with others. You win some and you lose some. Regardless, this is going to be a fine knife and it was achieved by going through a rather memorable process that I will always look back on fondly regardless of the disappointment, anger, and overall heated arguments.

'Tis a time to be merry. 'Tis a time to celebrate. And it is especially time to start handing over dollars.

Lucky for you all that you are getting to peep behind the curtain at a wholesale cost. Since I'm not allowed to make a profit, but to give you an idea, the knife that was chosen, I would sell for $130. Instead, you are getting it for $81. So no magic inflation here.
 
How dare you run a business with the intent to make a profit skblades skblades :p but yeah I knew the knife was a steal just go to Buck and build your own custom 501 close to these specs and your over $100 easy.
 
I enjoyed the polls and process of seeing the knife options come together. Not going to be the knife I always dreamed of, but I'm excited to get one nonetheless. I'm also curious if the leather pouch can be added in. For instance, if skblades is receiving all the knives then shipping out to individuals, he can include the pouch for those that ordered it from him separately.

I've put in a request to Buck for this. If I can get people to commit to them, that want them, then I'd bet it's something we could swing. I need to find out of the minimums apply here as well.

Well I could be wrong, and surely am often, but in my mind there is only 1 Official 2018 BF Knife. I can't imagine the outcry from the general populous should we decide that there now 2 Official BF Knives. On top of that, we would need 250 of each to sell, totaling a minimum of 500 knives. I don't believe both can carry the BF 2 dot stamp and both be the "the knife" of 2018. So, the only way for me to offer that, would be as my own separate offering, without BF stamping. I would charge closer to normal price for those. I hope that came across. Not that I think your idea is out of left field, I just don't think it would fly here.
 
Pàdruig Pàdruig Many thanks Dylan for underling what I actually meant.:D Not being American, perhaps my irony,satire and sarcasm are lost on some more poker-faced types ;) Some people may be getting a bit too touchy feely about it all eh? And look, I can be a very good sport, when I win :rolleyes: And why should anybody pretend that they're happy when the majority makes such a shortsighted mistake?:D

I think if certain people had not only read in between the lines, but my previous posts then they would've understood my enthusiasm for the WHOLE project and sense of faux outrage at things not exactly going entirely my way;) It may be said there's a plague of people deciding to take offence at everything these days:eek::cool::p

Point is, as I've asserted before, this is a gem of a knife, a genuine bargain at ANY of the prices quoted, a great deal of mirth and drama has been on tap in these polls and skblades skblades has retained objectivity, good natured humour and focus in all of these polls - despite our collective oddity:D

Sound reasoning, and besides I thought it was settled (or maybe I was dreaming?) that if we were going with two knives the second should be the true 301 with three blades. ;)

I'd like a 3 blade version ... even if it did not have the fancy Elk covers ... or only had the long pull on the clip.
 
I am liking the idea of ordering the pouch separate!! Kool if it happens!! And a BIG THANK YOU to SKBlades for all of your effort to make this happen!!!! John

This is what we call defusing a situation :D I'm guessing you have kids.

Pretty much every year's forum knife, since I started purchasing them, has been in a pattern or had a combination of features that I normally would not have been a big fan of, except for maybe the cap lifter, or the single blade jack. But they've all grown on me and help expand my collection and my horizons. I guess I'm saying that those who are upset with the final result shouldn't sell this knife off. The sense of community behind it could help make it one of your favorites. Hell, I hate stockmen, and I've never been a big Buck guy, but I'm REALLY looking forward to this knife.
