2018 GEC Rendezvous and Picnic!

I’m possibly scheduled to work, so I’m trying to find a way out of it as I missed last year and don’t want to make that mistake again.

I’m down to the wire on wether, or not to attend the picnic. I have a lot of family who wants to come to camp and attend the rendezcous (Saturday is my birthday and they want to be apart of it) but, there are a lot of little ones this year and I don’t want to ruin anyone’s time with the babies being possibly getting in the way, or being a distraction.

I’ll take any guidance I can get on what I should do as far as attending the picnic. Thanks guys!

The picnic is family friendly! I don’t think anyone will mind the young ones being there. There is always children in attendance! Just as a note be sure and call Christine and give a head count as they do charge for the adults in attendance. The information is on the web site or in post #46 in this thread! :)

Hope to see you there, Johnny2Shoes!!

New Territory !!

So, I talked to Chris today, and she told me GEC is providing a couple of large canopies with tables and chairs on the front lawn of GEC!! I hope everyone who can will bring a roll or two of knives, for show and tell, and for Trade!!! What can be more fun for a knife collector???:D
I am sure impromptu trading will continue over to the picnic on Saturday. This year is going to be a new direction for the Rendezvous, as a result of other changes in Titusville.
I, for one, am looking forward to it!! The trading, as well as buying and selling are of course the best parts of any Knifely gathering, except for seeing old friends!!:)

I can't wait! I was going to be there Thursday through Friday, but I'm not sure if I'll stay for Friday now.

I’ll be there!

My wife and I are headed up on Friday after I finish work up, so I’ll see some of you guys there late I imagine. Christine said to “stop on in when you get to town.” I’m not one to argue with Chris so I’ll be there.

I made some reservations to be at the picnics Saturday as well with the rest of my family. I’m excited to see you all there and take part in the knife talk I don’t get at home haha!

I'll be arriving Wednesday night, be there all day Thursday and then heading back home. Could only manage the one day but I'm excited. First rendezvous for me! Really looking forward to seeing everyone!

Eric

will you be joining us for dinner at the cross creek resort?

Glad you are going to be able to make it! See you Friday! Friday evening is usually a big gathering at the Cross Creek. Even a lot of us that stay at other hotels will be there. It’s a great time and lots of comradery and knive show and tell. They usually have a great buffet meal and there will be lots of knives! Lol  I remember last year Duncan @Campbellclanman got out all the big butcher knives he had purchased and began walking around showing them to everyone! I was afraid someone would call the police about a man with an accent walking around yielding large knives! :D

it would be neat! i gotta start packing, most of my knives have been packed for some reason :D:eek::rolleyes:
Jack my friend drive safely! I hope you have your car in tip top shape! See you soon! :D

We will be there for all three days. I’m really looking forward to meeting some new friends! And of course we can’t wait to see all of our old friends again! :D

Jack, when's the dinner get-together? I have no idea what goes on at the gathering, this was kind of a last minute/all the stars aligned kind of thing for me. :)

no no, i saw that movie Ron, he was so mild mannered the mounted officer gave him his knife back at the end of that!

Paul and Duncan we will surely miss you guys this year! :) Without you guys there I don't know who will keep Jack in line! One thing for sure we are looking forward to meeting some new friends and catching up with some old friends. And I don't mean old as in their age either! Here is two Northfield 79 Workhorse Whittlers that I was able to purchase in the company store! Besides the comradery of a Rendezvous, being able to look in one of those glass counters and see a hard to find pattern such as these 79's laying there before your eyes is very neat! :D

Wow, being in front of the glass counter and seeing knives like these must be like being a kid in a candy store. I love the jigging and color on the red one. The African Blackwood version is very classy. I have one 79 Workhorse Whittler in ebony and one of the two blade versions in Bocote.

I’m getting pumped up for this. Sorry to post a family picture, but this is the only picture I have of myself. I’m the dad in the middle of the pic. If anyone here recognizes me at the Rendezvous please introduce yourself and let’s talk about some knives.B315B142-ED92-4D70-BB70-AB17E8865299.jpeg
