For everyone else, I'm curious how the no shield (currently at 5.7%) and the with shield (currently at 73.6%) add up? What happened to the other 20.7%? Did a fifth of the voters not pick either?

Probably people changing votes and forgetting to pick shield/no shield choice again.

Good question. I don't know where they are getting the percentages...should be closer to 8% and 92%.
If everyone followed the directions, there would be an equal number of votes for the shield as the total of all shield votes below that added together. Right now, there is quite a discrepancy (171 votes for knife with shield and 220 votes for the shields) which means that several folks must have voted for two shields and did not select "Knife with shield".
 
Yeah the people who voted for two shield s instead of one shield plus "with shield" should fix their votes or both their shield votes could be voided.

"Each person can select two options. But ONE OF THE OPTIONS MUST BE "With Shield" or "Without Shield". This way no single shield has to compete with no shield. Regardless of your choice on these, you can then vote on one of the shield options."

Meanwhile, I like the anchor but think it may be too risky. The crest is nice but I think the reverse Orleans still rules the roost.

People can't follow directions.
 
You actually can't use math to try and get those two to come to 100% because they are not a separately computed subset. They are just two choice in a poll with 10 choices. So you would have to divide the number of votes for "With Shield" by all votes, etc. But it still won't come out because a) some people voted for two different actual shields, and b) some people just voted for one choice.
 
No Shield should be taken off the table :D This aint Stag GEC are being asked to use...;)

Some very good options here: Banner, Orléans, Propeller, all really suit:cool: Propeller has been used before, 2011, so perhaps people may concentrate on the other two?
 
I'm calling this a boat knife (though, sadly without a lanyard hole :() and so I voted PROPELLER.
Anchor came to mind but too complex, I think, for a proper shield.

Next preference(s) would be - R ORLEANS or DIAMOND.

As ironwood continues to steam ahead in the slab poll - the more I wish square bar or swell bar was an option.

The size of the knife and fact it's bare head calls for a longer shield, but the swirling grain of ironwood may be best complimented by a simple shield.

Propeller would be great, but has been used with other ironwood pieces in the past.

Diamond is too small (short?) I think for such a large knife, and without end cap.

If assurances can be made that the banner be sized down (I'm pretty sure they can), I may still prefer that one of the available choices.

None will be an eyesore however. Not even close.

I'm coming 'round to this point of view as well. I think JohnDF JohnDF may be on to something as to why.
