I only have one GEC with the brushed bolsters at this point and I only keep it because it’s a super rare one. As a collectible, it’s fine, but if you want to actually maintain the finish as a carry piece, good luck. How long can you maintain a bolster with sandpaper on a daily user?

I’m actually okay with any of the options at this point, but I’ll probably end up doing some sanding/polishing. Brushed just looks unfinished and lackluster to me. Especially with ironwood. I can understand brushed with Micarta, but ironwood takes such a nice polish....

Better just go with the AB. That’s a classy knife.... jeans, sweat pants, dive bar, office, suit, wedding, church..... it bridges all situations and looks good at the same time.

I don't want to speak for everybody, but I'm gonna speak for everybody.......

It looks like I may have lost the fight about the wood used in the 2019 BF knife. But in a way I won. A few weeks ago I introduced the word endangered into the minds of the knife community which had been hidden by both collectors and dealers. Its out there now - it can never go back to the way it was. It is in your minds it can’t be removed.

No need for sand paper....your telling me you have never polished one of your polished bolsters before? A lil flitz or metal polish and the thing will look like it came stock polished from GEC. We are all knife knutts here. That carry high carbon I'm sure a majority have metal polish and enjoy polishing out knives....

Come on all this talk about maintenance on brushed bolsters is just fear mongering....I think I have polished every one of the bolsters on my knives even the ones I don't carry often...heck, the bolsters on my #82 came brushed and I polished them right up....I'm just over here

Don’t take this personally, but you didn’t ‘win’ anything. I would buy a knife with a handle in walrus, narwhal, unicorn, etc. some of us REALLY DON’T CARE. Think whatever you want. Your politics are unwanted and I find them offensive but you are free to feel however you choose.

The sandpaper is mainly for the lackluster satin finished blade. After finishing a lot of wood, I’ve found that flitz alone is not enough. I will admit, I greatly prefer the Blackwood....

Nunca dije Blackwood o africano en me poesia. Nunca.
