(if you count all my sheepsfoot blades, including stockman patterns, you could probably assemble a flock)

This is a very nice knife (and I do like a sheepsfoot blade). I'm very glad I was able to get this one, that's for sure :):)

This forum knife is my first traditional knife with wood scales in decades and I never before had a knife with scales made of anything as exotic as African Blackwood. Should I wax or polish the forum knife scales? If so, with what?

Both of mine arrived today. Absolutely fantastic workmanship. I’m having trouble finding any flaw whatsoever in either of them. Truly wonderful knives. Fantastic back label too, by Meako.

There’s always a chance of such a knife, crowd sourced and voted upon, turning out to be a real Frankenstein. But this year’s knife came together beautifully. Every aspect works together to create something quite lovely.

How's walk and talk?! How's pull strength?!

I'm no expert, but I'll give a dummys review. I'd rate the pull at a 7 maybe. It has a good solid snap to the half stop, then on to full open. The spring sits flush with the liners when closed, at half stop & at full open. There are no gaps between the spring/liners, or between the wood and the liners or bolsters. The blade grind is even & it's sharp right out of the tube. Pretty darn nice!

Great on both accounts - pull is maybe a 4-5, it's snappy enough that I'm pleased but light enough that I can easily pinch it open. Truthfully, given the beefy blade and size I expected a firmer pull. But I'm happy it's on the medium/light side of pull weight. This knife WILL be used while sailing so the lighter pull and "pinchability" are appreciated.
