Good thing your pocketknife wasn't actually traveling with mine; somewhere between Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune my knife when AWOL! 36 hours to make a 2-1/2 hour drive was too much for the old USPS during this busy season. They finally updated their tracker, seems it's enroute and will show up eventually! Maybe by Christmas (just hoping they don't lose it). OH

Maybe it want’s to be Airborne and not eat crayons

Okay Chris - you know you're setting up a !*&^%$# contest between the Doggies and the Jarheads don't yah??

All of a sudden mine showed up just before noon as I was walking my final Christmas cards down to the box (the USPS tracker finally caught up a bit later!) To say I am pleased would be an understatement - beautiful wooden covers (sometimes they're black and sometimes chocolate brown - we have heavy cloud cover today so no bright sun to really look deep). The W&T is perfect, as is the fit and finish - the metal parts are flawless. I realized once I had it in hand that it is very similar to an old Case 1199SH Whaler I own -that never dawned on me as it came together in our polls. Very nice knife. Finally a word to Meako - buddy you really knocked it out of the park - captured this place, these fine folks, and this knife just perfectly. Well done all the way around! OH

I absolutely love this year's BF knife. Many of my boxes were checked when the details were decided, but seeing and feeling it in hand; an absolute home run!

Thank you to all of the terrific people that made this 2019 BF possible. I'm truly indebted to you.

Here's the 2019 BF next to my all-time favorite, the 2015 77 Sheepfoot Barlow in AB.

What a good looking pair

Received my two a day early - Thursday! Brother stopped over on Friday, we unboxed, each grabbed one, and before he took his home we both noted how great these knives came out. F&F, W&T (musical!), cover matching - both knives dark with a few hints of brown - all well done. Good show, GEC! :thumbsup:

Thanks to:
Frank knarfeng knarfeng , Gary @Peregrin , Mike @knifeswapper , for all the hard work that went into doing this! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

The one that stayed in my pocket...:D

A bunch of other folks already spoke up but I will too. What you did isn’t flipping. Last year, several people bought two and sold the second to people who didn’t get a chance to get in. Several this year doing it. What you did ain’t much different than this, but just wasn’t planned. You didn’t make a lot of money (in fact, hardly any other than just rounding up almost) after you pay shipping, insurance and fees on it.

Normally, I’m not necessarily against flipping. I don’t like the selfishness of it, but I used to do it with hot wheels. So I’d be hypocritical to say I’m against it. I won’t pay flippers markup. But what you did ain’t flipping. What you did is making ends meet at the same time helping someone who didn’t get in on the opportunity. Hopefully they don’t take advantage of your tight spot to flip it. That, I would think a worse offense to the community here.

I'm posting this for @rbeggs and to help clear up any confusion on what we see as flipping. Sorry you're having truck trouble, it couldn't happen at a worse time, with the holidays around the corner. Hope it turns out OK.

Hey folks, Just a note on this flipping thing. There's a big difference between having to sell a knife near cost to pay the bills and selling one to make a profit. Folks, if you need to sell your forum knife to help out with the bills, don't hesitate to do it. If you bought two and just want to keep the best of the pair, feel free to do it. Just try to sell it close to cost. I'm sure that's pretty obvious to all of you.

That said, I'm a capitalist and don't really have a problem with folks selling their property for whatever the market will bear, IN MOST CASES. In the case of the forum knife, it's really about the fact that the dealer has made a monetary contribution to the forum knife effort by agreeing to sell at a price that only covers their costs, with no profit. That's a biggie. Having someone buy multiple forum knives to sell at a profit is just a smack in the face to the whole forum knife community effort, and the contribution made by the dealer.

That's why Frank and I spend so much time keeping lists, vetting potential purchasers and limiting quantities to two knives (there were a few exceptions made, based on specific requests). There were a few that wanted to buy this year, but weren't allowed, based on their history last year. It's a lot more work for us, but it's fair.

Anyway, if you see a forum knife being scalped let us know, behind the scenes please. We'll have a "No Buy" list just in case we do a forum knife next year.

What they said.

Sorry for the late response. It's been crazy busy at work this last week and I've been working 11-hour days trying to keep up. I haven't had time for this thread.

Mine came yesterday and is truly an impressive knife, with perfect fit and finish and perfect walk and talk.

@meako
Great thanks for one of the most thoughtful back labels we've ever had.

@knifeswapper
Thank you, Mike. Your efforts on our behalf this year are greatly appreciated.

I'd also like to thank GEC for a fantastic job of squeezing us into their schedule and producing a great knife for us. The choice of a saber ground blade was not originally popular with all the members, but it's so extremely traditional and it fits this pattern to a T. Truly a classic knife made to the highest production standards.

Turns out the saber ground blade works just fine with this knife. That ole Modoc ED was a bit off with his thoughts on how it would fit for the BF knife.:eek:. It's a nice looking knife and very functional if we're to heed those that have tried slicing with it.:thumbsup:

Looks good! I’d take that meal over canned “meat” any day. :D
Yeah new Hardees southwest patty melt with jalapeno cheese fries it was very good. Jalapenos on the burger too. My front teeth are a partial and sometimes a biting into sandwiches makes it loose so I'll cut it up and eat it. The Jalapenos and southwest sauce left its mark on the blade,but I dont shy from the patina lol

The red rust I found in the Case's pull will be dealt with soon btw.
I'll be attempting the Spam slicing challenge soon though;)
