Anyone know how we got an exemption from the mandatory blade etch? Was the order placed before that rule started?

Correct, identifying tang stamps are sufficient.

Plus, I'm not sure where you would put an etch on a saber ground blade.

Finished our camping trip! 2 hour plus drive, one flat tire. Then when I got home having to inspect two trees that fell on my fence...I eventually got to go check my mail and I found this sailor waiting in the box! What a great knife! Hefty, perfect pull, snappy! Will be in my pocket for the foreseeable future!
