I am REALLY enjoying this knife.

Received mine and I am extremely happy. I really think they turned out beautifully. No picture at this time. Mine is on the browner side with great depth and chatoyance. I too want to send a shout out to Mike @knifeswapper, Gary @Peregrin and Frank knarfeng knarfeng for all their hard work and for putting up with all of us. Mike did a "yeoman's job" getting out so many Sailors knives right at Christmas time. I know, I know bad joke!!! Mike, you did a great job with your excellent packaging. Really first-rate!!!! Once again, thank y'all for all your hard work. I hope Santa is good to y'all

I am really hoping it shows up today; PostNL is usually pretty efficient once customs has its time-consuming way.

I may have spoken a bit too soon when I posted that last Friday, but today my Sailors Rope Knife finally arrived! I am really impressed. For a fairly big knife, it is quite slim and, as others have noted, it is lighter than it looks. I was hoping for pure black, but mine has some lighter streaks in it; I immediately took to its looks, though, and I am glad it has a little "chocolate" in it. Simply put, the wood is stunning. Moderate pull (maybe a 5), which is what I prefer, and nice snap. Smooth and sharp right out of the tube. The fit and finish is mostly spot-on. If I were to nitpick, there is a very slight gap between one of the liners and the spring near the bolster (only visible with a strong light behind it) and I wish the blade sat a little deeper in the well. That's being picky, however, as I don't have any real complaints of any sort. I loved meako's text on the back label. It kind of captured the zeitgeist of the traditional forum, in my opinion. A fine job from GEC, @knifeswapper, @Peregrin, knarfeng knarfeng , and, well, us!

I opened the box with my 2018 forum knife. It somehow seemed appropriate! Sorry for the crappy pictures. It was dark already when I got home and I don't have great light anywhere in the house for photos.

Incredible job on this year's Forum Knife. I won't be cutting any Spam with this one because I already arranged a great trade with a fellow member that missed out on getting one. I know I always end up passing my knives on so I thought it made good sense to do a trade for something I missed out on (The Northwoods Ocoee Jack in Blue Sawcut Bone handles.) I'm only posting to give credit wear credit is do. This knife is hands down the nicest GEC I've had the pleasure of handling. The only other that even came close was a Pre-owned Broadway Jack I traded for years ago that was almost but not quite flush in all 3 positions. The pull on the Forums knife is around a 6 and the color is just a shade lighter then ebony so you can see beautiful grains in the wood. Most surprising of all was the action and the Fit and finish witch is always up to snuff with GEC IMHO and this beauty is even a few steps above the norm. The action is smooth as silk and 100% flush in all 3 spots.:D

Dayuuumn that's a nice knife!
Mine just came earlier today. I opened it with my previously one and only GEC. I couldn't be happier with it. 10 out of 10 outta the ball park ladies and gents.

Of course a big thank you for EVERYONE who had a hand in making this happen.

Merry Christmas!

Safe queen, smuafe queen. The first pic I forgot to take. It cut my sausage, potatoes and onion for my breakfast.

Then, I wanted to profile up the edge. While it was great for a GEC, arguably best one yet, I fixed it up to my liking.

Yep, now we push slicing paper towels in half, thickness wise.

Holding up the top layer I sliced off.

Diced up 10 lbs potatoes for mashed potatoes for the boys (and girl) that work for me. While it’s not the best profile for cutting up thick taters, it did just fine.

On to cutting butter for the cobbler (or dump cakes). One peach and one blueberry.

And finally, it turned my one big steak into many bite size steaks. Overall, a good day. She’s well fed now.
