Opened mine today it is beautiful. Unfortunately it appears to have been scuffed/dropped something. Fortunately it will be a user.

That's just The Universe telling you not to be afraid to "Use It!".:thumbsup:

I’ve been seeing all the posts with this exceptional Forum Knife and have to admit I’ve been impatiently waiting to get a look at mine. Christmas morning was not a disappointment. :) What a beauty! Thanks to all that made this happen, and Merry Christmas!

I'll bet you look just like your avatar opening the tube on that beauty! :D

Popped the top on my tube to find something similar as well. Unfortunately too deep to be sanded down without misshaping the contours of the handle. Aside from that it's still stunning looking. Just came with some character already I guess.

Good things come to those who wait. I wasn't sure I'd be keeping it but now I'm not sure I can let it go. Rich African Blackwood that is a deep rich brown mixed with black. The backspring is flush in all 3 positions. The pull is about a 5 and a little soft but I attribute that to being new. For its size it feels well balanced and I can almost feel the usefulness of the blade. And, I got TWO pins.IMG_1906-1024x744.JPG

I love the grain swirl pile side next to the spring pin.

Dang it...most likely gonna be sending my forum knife back to GEC....lil bit of blade wobble that is starting to get worse....shoot! I will carry it for the next week and see if it gets worse.

Sorry to hear that, Taylor, but why wait? I'd send it back if it had blade wobble.
True. I'm gonna give it another oiling in the pivot sometimes that works. It had a super gritty action when I received it. I cleaned it out and it must have had something in the pivot that got knocked loose and started the wobble. All I know is GEC's warranty work is always great.

So, mine was delivered today as well. Unfortunately I left town to visit family for a few days so my neighbor picked it up for me. I guess I'll finally get to play with it on Sunday night:)

They finally arrived today and I couldn't be happier. These knives were superbly made and I am so happy to have the result of all the polls, discussions, bickering, etc. finally in hand, the wait was well worth it.

Everything that sets this knife apart from the rest of the 86 run is just sublime - the barehead nature, the single blade configuration, and the striking combination of a unique blade and classy shield choice. GEC did us proud and my thanks goes out to Gary and Frank for putting up with all of our shenanigans and keeping us on the rails, to Mike for facilitating the process and undergoing such a titanic effort for us, and to Meako for a wonderfully meaningful write-up on the back label.

This knife truly is something special.

I could not capture the wood very well in my current light but I got one with nice straight grain that is beautifully streaked with warm browns and the other is wonderfully black with some fascinating gray whorls.

Always someone who takes advantage
On the upside a friend (member) who missed out got one from a fellow member $105.
More good people here than bad

Nothing wrong with that at all! That is how it is supposed to work. This one should have been offered up on the Bladeforum exchange to members as well. When we signed on for the forum knife, there were 'rules', one of which was:

A lot of hard work is going into this with no profit in it for anyone except maybe the knife manufacturer. We don’t want to set this up just so a flipper can come along and turn a fat profit on the backs of others as has happened in some past years. So this is a “members only” set up. If folks buy the knife and later decide the knife is not for them and want to sell it, we would ask that you sell it on the BF exchange and just charge enough to cover your costs.

Flippers gonna flip, but when it's a forum knife it just sort of rubs me the wrong way.
