Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I can’t recall anyone not eventually gettin’ a wanted past forum knife if they wanted one.
Someone usually always comes to the rescue. Now granted, the rarer the the forum knife the higher the cost and longer the possible wait and there are the exceptions to the rule.
Those being the earliest knives made, 2006-2008 made in small numbers of around 35-50 give or take a dozen or so. 2009 was a pivotal year for us, we popped up on the collectors radar. I remember the year of the Barlow.
What a beautiful knife that was, all the work that went into that knife and gettin’ into everyone’s mailboxes. I wonder how many realize how close that came to bein’ the last annual knife for traditional?
The complete story of that year’s knife would make for some interesting research. One of these days I’ll hafta contact all the folks involved and get permission to tell the story.
The early years when there was more member involvement in the design process, when every decision required a poll and a month to be fair to everyone else. Lol
It was a wonder we ever got a knife made in the early years. If it wasn’t for the love of knives and the fun for the most part that we had building a knife by consensus, I think we woulda gave up that first year and just had Kevin laser engrave something on a more obtainable and certainly cheaper traditional knife.
Still we persevered and here it is 14 years and 13 knives later, still makin’ an annual knife for the traditional folks who like to call the porch home.
