I was one of the first to receive the forum knives. I havent really posted about it because im at a loss for words to quantify this knife. After seeing all the other handle shades ive decided that my pitch black with a swirl on one side and a cross grain bit on the other, is a fine example of the run. It took a day or two to warm up to the protruding blade, but ive found its pinchability and unique style to be quite distinguished. Its been in my pocket for about two weeks now and anyone whos seen it lavishes praise on its beauty. Thanks to all who participated and organized this years knife, which is my first. I will surely sign up again should the chance arise. Coincidentally, I trimmed my beard into mutton chops for laughs over the holiday and it played well into the sailors theme of the knife. There will be no photos of the chops.

Someone just sold their 2019 forum knife on eBay for $235. More than double what they paid for it. I'm sorry, but that disgusts me.

.......the world is full of people with different ethics and morals. We can't change them, but we can change our attitude towards them...

Perhaps look at it another way, as, let not the sale itself cause upset, more, that it is an example for us all to be even more chuffed t’ bits that we have a true cracker of a knife

Well the big fat guy in the red suit left this for me on Christmas Eve. I was blown away at how well these turned out.

I was thinking it was gonna be another sheepfoot jack knife, not that there’s anything wrong with that, It’s one of my favorite work patterns but I thought it was just gonna be the last of our dotted tang stamps signaling the end of the decade with the removal of our last dot.

Here are my first pics of the BF Traditional Forum’s Annual knife, the GEC, Barehead Jack, Sailor’s Rope knife, with a 1095 high carbon steel blade. Brass liners, African Blackwood scales and a bomb shield.

I love the flat ground blade with the micro bevel, it woulda been knice if it was a full flat ground blade but it’s close, I’ll save my review for another day, another thread :).

Here’s this years knife.

As you can see in the above pic, the blade’s perfectly centered and nothing’s proud.

Very fortunate that a forum member found my wtb and was willing to let one go for a fair price! Soon as I saw this one I instantly regretted missing out! My first bladeforums knife and also my first single blade with a Sheepsfoots main. So far I’m loving it! Thanks too all that made this knife a reality!

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I can’t recall anyone not eventually gettin’ a wanted past forum knife if they wanted one.

Someone usually always comes to the rescue. Now granted, the rarer the the forum knife the higher the cost and longer the possible wait and there are the exceptions to the rule.

Those being the earliest knives made, 2006-2008 made in small numbers of around 35-50 give or take a dozen or so. 2009 was a pivotal year for us, we popped up on the collectors radar. I remember the year of the Barlow.

What a beautiful knife that was, all the work that went into that knife and gettin’ into everyone’s mailboxes. I wonder how many realize how close that came to bein’ the last annual knife for traditional?

The complete story of that year’s knife would make for some interesting research. One of these days I’ll hafta contact all the folks involved and get permission to tell the story.

The early years when there was more member involvement in the design process, when every decision required a poll and a month to be fair to everyone else. Lol :D

It was a wonder we ever got a knife made in the early years. If it wasn’t for the love of knives and the fun for the most part that we had building a knife by consensus, I think we woulda gave up that first year and just had Kevin laser engrave something on a more obtainable and certainly cheaper traditional knife.

Still we persevered and here it is 14 years and 13 knives later, still makin’ an annual knife for the traditional folks who like to call the porch home.

Agreed. once upon a time I sought high and low for the coveted 2014 bladeforums Jack. I believe I wasn't a member of the porch at the time and missed them every time they were on the for sale section, some times by mere minutes. Eventually I ended up with three of them one that was mint to boot! So be patient, and keep a vigilant eye!

Well, my picture skills are definitely below several of my fellow porch mates, & I’ll wait on a future opportunity with a favorite brew or book.

This knife is sweet. Thanks to EVERYONE who made it possible; the tube and Meako’s back panel are great as well.

I’m grateful to be able to pocket it.
