2019 GEC 29 Humpback/Stockyard Whittler Thread

Think I’ve had about enough of this thread and posts. Before I start firing back.

I am ok with the BF position. The dealers are knife retailers, not knife manufacturers. They are competing with each other for market. Think from the perspective of dealers who do pay BF fees. They would be expecting BF to honour their financial agreement with this website.

I am enjoying these stockyard whittlers. Threw a Churchill in the mix for comparison.

These snakewoods look great! I have had no luck tracking one down. I am hoping to pick up a stag when they make it out.

I will say the clip looks like a fantastic blade! The size is very capable, the geometry looks like an amazing slicer. I haven't actually used mine yet as I'm still deciding how I feel about the overall knife, but that clip is great.

Despite the controversy over the showing of etchings....;) I do recognize both sides of the argument as well. But, I can't get my head round the thickness of this pattern, some fabulous scale options, interesting blade assortment but I suspect a minor brick in the pocket....What's the weight in grammes/ounces?

I just weighed my #66 Calf Roper and my #29 Stockyard for you on my kitchen scale. My 66 weighs 2-5/8 oz./ 78g and my 29 weighs 2-7/8 oz. / 83g.
Laying flat on their sides, they are the same thickness so 3 spring vs. 2 spring = same. I find I like the weight and thickness of both because it gives your hand a good purchase with the weight adding to the authority of a cut. I view both knives as working knives and both give me the feeling that they are up to the task. They are solid knives. Hope this helps Will.
I'll try and post a picture of both in a following post.

I too have both the 66 and the 29 and perceive little difference between the two in terms of thickness or weight. Because of the pattern shape differences, they will feel different in the hand of course, but in the pocket they are like Schrödinger’s cat. You won’t know which one is there until you take it out.

Thanks all for the comparisons with the 66. I impulse ordered a 29 last week and was kind of worried about receiving it, thinking it would be too bulky/heavy in the pocket. Now, knowing it's very similar in thickness and weight to the 66 makes me feel better about it. Won't know for sure until it arrives, but I'm looking forward to it. Looks like a great blade combination.

If you like your 66 you will like your 29,I do.

Here is my #29 on the left and my #66 on the right for a little comparison.
The #29 at 83g and the #66 weighting in at 78g...shake hands and come out fighting boys. I believe the #29 will have the knock out PUNCH though.
