2019 GEC 92 Eureka Jack

I'm in for the stag, passed on the camel. Of course that's subject to change once I get my elderberry. 7 days to go 150 miles by mail.
?? That is insane! Were there extenuating circumstances (truck go off a cliff) or is that normal? I usually get stuff from across the country in 3 days or so.

Probably just a USPS blunder. This is the first time ordering from this dealer, not blaming him and will order from him again. I did get notified that it will arrive today so I am happy.

I hope that you find it was worth the wait.... I'm very pleased with mine. That seems to be the consensus. I've heard only one "not thrilled" comment, which I think speaks very well to the effort that GEC put into this one.

Excellent photography!

Nice write up..…… I got my elderberry yesterday; I'm tickled to death with it.....Curious, what is the beef with GEC's shipping methods?

Great write-up and photos...as usual. Which blade for the hops? :D

Great write up and gorgeous pics...the last one with the hops is classic!:thumbsup:

Thank you, fellas!

In regards to my chagrin over GEC's shipping methods, they tend to split their shipments so that their dealers do not get their full allotment in the same delivery. I think Mike has explained this in the past (here and on his website). As a result, I ended up getting my knife after Mike received his second shipment. All it really means is that I wait longer, it most certainly is not the end of the world.

In regards to the hops, I did not grow any this year, though I will probably grow some next season. A local pub had been given a considerable amount of fresh Mosaic hops so my buddies and I, with the aspiration of making some home brew, went and grabbed a fair amount for our purposes.

Do you guys know if there's any way to leech some of the dye out of the scales

Very easily. Sometimes a quick wash in Dawn dishwashing soap and warm water will do the trick. If not, repeated exposure to lemon juice should strip the color out rather quickly. Keep in mind that lemon juice will also produce a patina on carbon steel.

In my experience, carry it. I haven’t had a single camel bone knife that doesn’t lighten up a bit with use.

Edit* I assumed we were talking camel bone, don’t know why. I’ve never had any cow bone leech color.

Yay, it finally arrived, good things come and that...

This is my first of this pattern and I am very pleased. My knife is spot on, so I will not go too much into that. What has me most excited is the coping blade. I did some basic cuts in some scrap wood I have laying around and wow this will be a nice carver. That coupled with a spear? Yeah, I'm good. Now I can't wait for my stag.:)

I need some help from everybody. See the stag knife below? if everybody could find it in the kindness of their hearts not to buy it and let me know which dealer has it I'd appreciate it

That has got to be the ugliest stag I ever did see. Why it ought to rain on GEC.:D

My Micarta arrived today... Boy is it NICE!
F&F is well done, my example is ground nice and even, everything about it just says "quality". The micarta is really nice and has a little grip to it. The main blade has a nice 5 pull and the secondary has an easy 4 pull. Both blades 'snap' firmly into place. I like the slightly lighter pull on the secondary, I'm able to reach across the main blade with my index finger and pick the blade out easily. I don't have to re position the knife to get the secondary blade open. It even photographs well. Outstanding!
