I usually just pick Pruners up for other people Kevin. Wright's give it the rather unimaginative name of "Medium pruning knife with nickel end cap" :D Here's another

Thanks Dwight
Thanks, Jack. That is a beauty of a pruner.

The 38 Special has to be one of the ugliest knives ever produced by GEC in my opinion. From what I can tell. it was released sometime in 2017 and is still readily available from just about all GEC dealers. Some have already discounted it to get rid of existing inventory, so it's not just me that feels this way. The 12 isn't much better looking. Why would anyone want these goofy looking knives (my personal opinion) as a forum knife?
I won't argue the popularity of those models as I have no idea. I haven't seen much of the #38 around but if I have the only reasons I haven't picked one up is 1 I am not huge on carbon steels and 2 it might be the handle materials that aren't of any or enough interest to me. The #12 is a toothpick which I think is a more popular model than perhaps you give credit not sure how popular each type is small, medium, or large and I will say that GEC #12 the blade looks slightly disproportionately larger than expected with the handle but that just may be the photography.

I think we need perhaps to reach out to the various makers suggested so far with patterns that hold interest to people and see who is willing to be a part of the 2019 forum knife. They will also be able to tell us any limits on pattern choices which can impact voting. I would be happy to see buck in the running again and see about a model 532 but I know it will be a pricier model than some might like.

The conversation seems to be headed most towards Sheffield, which I’m okay with. I did contact a rep from Böker and he said I’d hear back within a couple days regarding a special version of their upcoming lockback. It would likely come down to quantity. Just throwing that out there.

That's a style I am interested in working with some day... Maybe a smidge more wharncliffy - but that is a great looking knife.

That is one they made up for me at the factory a while back Mike, just as a bolster sample, but I showed them this one, and they now do a Tackler with a Wharncliffe knife as well as the Sheepsfoot model. Tackler's an interesting pattern

Wright's also do a 'regular-sized' Sheepsfoot

I got that one out of the 'Seconds' box! :D No idea why it was in there

What's the length on this one?

Interested that the convo has traveled to Sheffield. I wouldn't mind the configuration to be in the ettrick pattern but would prefer, if any Sheffield pattern, to be in a Wharny style. Though not sure I would qualify for a forum knife such I'm a relatively new member
