Thanks! I'd be ok with a lambsfoot and a pen. The stepped bolsters are a nice touch.
Now THAT's the kind of bolster I was talking about in my earlier post. Wonderful knife! Personally I'd still preffer a pen secondary, which isn't seen as often, but the lambsfoot even less, methinks. Usually they have a long spey blade instead, iirc?

How about a Lambsfoot and a clip.

Interested that the convo has traveled to Sheffield. I wouldn't mind the configuration to be in the ettrick pattern but would prefer, if any Sheffield pattern, to be in a Wharny style. Though not sure I would qualify for a forum knife such I'm a relatively new member

I am pretty sure you would qualify, as long as you were actively participating in the traditional subforum. You are a paying member who has been around for a while, and you post in the traditional forum. I don't see why you wouldn't be eligible by the time we get around to ordering. But bear in mind, I am just a regular forum member, not any kind of authority. But seriously, I don't imagine you will have a problem.

With the Guardians Lambsfoot knives, I let them know the standards I expect, pay extra so that they're compensated for the extra time the knives take, and I'm very appreciative when they do a great job (and they know I'm really picky!). It seems to have worked so far :)
Hey Jack, you mentioned "compensated for extra time"... considering the BF guideline that the manufacturer needs to make the knives "at cost" (no profit)... do you think your Sheffield contact would be OK with that and be able to produce it for ~ $100 USD w/ shipping included?

I may be wrong, but I suspect the manufacturer still makes a profit, but the rule is the dealer in the middle doesn't make a profit. So the Sheffield maker could get the extra to do them right, but (Jack) can't mark them up to make a profit for himself. That's just my understanding.
