What’s not to love about a well done saber grind? Man, that’s one sexy looking grind, especially the way GEC does it. Who cares if it doesn’t slice quite as well. I don’t use pocket knives for food much anyway.

I love that blade!

And while we’re at it, I really think we should use an acrylic or maybe even some of that ever popular violet pioneer bone! Has an acrylic even been done on a forum knife? I don’t think GEC has even done any saber grinds with acrylic? Maybe a 65 somewhere in the distant past? That would be a unique one.

I’m sure I’m dreaming though. I think most people dislike acrylics.

knifeswapper knifeswapper Any chance you can get TFG on board to manage the import to Europe? Since you've collaborated with them before and I've got nothing but good experience with them.

No, I am saying that something not yet expounded is not a problem - it is a matter of thought when the time is right. It is curious how everything not answered becomes a problem to those looking for a problem and simply something that will come to those that have a little faith.

Greetings,
Whichever knife, please help to ship overseas, can’t miss 2019 Traditional Forum knife,(this being my first year)
Many thanks with faith & patience:thumbsup:

Someone mentioned that this is turning into a kind of rope knife, and it was like a light bulb went off. This might be as close as I ever get to my long advocated for sailor/whaler/mariner/boat knife!

Now I finally feel like I have a reason to be happy about the GEC offering!

I still stumble on the carbon front. I can't imagine a reason that any carbon would be preferable to any stainless in a saltwater environment, but I also know that many here strongly disagree. While I am griping I will also lament the certainty that there will be no marlinspike.

Now that I have finished my griping, I can get back to my newfound enthusiasm. Hoist the sails me hearties!

And now I am going to start agitating like a crazed caged gibbon for a bail!

For the members who do not reside in the great United States of America, should wood be chosen as the handle material a non-CITES listed material would be the best choice. There are a multitude of choices available. If its not a listed species, its not going to get seized. At the end of the day, not having my knife in a government owned display case is a priority.

I’m with you. I have a newfound appreciation for acrylics. We’ll see!

That purple bone is great, but don't get my hopes up.

GEC probably wont offer anything they aren't offering already this year, or that takes more effort than that to boot. Notice the pattern choice and dead simple blade.
Also, plastic handles belong on advertising kni.. oh, yeah.. its a forum knife. Plastic it up I reckon, right?

The fixed blade from Buck is interesting, could even be had in a worthy steel I'd guess. No point in longing for that though, it looks like.

Good thing I reckon. We never get to see GEC knives here on the forums. So rare.

At least the GEC concept has a long pull. I like that.
The thing about the controlled buy and its purpose is funny: what are you going to do to flippers that buy theirs second hand? What can you do? How long till an original owner can sell their knife here on the exchange for 5x what it was purchased for? 3 years? 4 weeks? 8 months? Don't say it "won't happen here", because you know it will. I bet those rotten banana swell ends will turn up by the stack on the exchange in time for next Christmas, 250 each, with people buying them.

No point in even trying to puff up about stuff like that, especially on the internet. Order the number, sell them to the people that wanted them, and then whatever happens afterwords is what the market wishes. I wont be buying one at inflated prices, nor will I initially drop the money on 2 so I can sell one later at those prices. Other people absolutely will.
I'd say you limit purchase to one knife per mailing address if you want to exercise any control. Allowing people to buy 2 only makes sense on a crapshoot handle material like stag, especially if you want to keep anyone from selling for profit.

"Oh, but what about those people who couldn't get in on the original sale, Andre? How will they get their knife if they wanted one if we can't buy 2?"

Seriously.. what? If you didn't hog 2 of them up, they would have had a chance. If they'd have taken part in the "cahmewnuhteeh" they'd have had notice well in advance. If they weren't around for it, they'll bear the price the market says they will for the item they want, or not. Their choice, not any one else's. Folks on here are too informed to pay extortion for stuff like this, so where's the worry come from? Let's skip all the handwringing over flippers, aye? Nobody is going to make you buy a knife at an inflated price. Nobody is going to realistically be able to tell anyone what to do with goods they've paid for and received.
Limit one per household, or no limit at all. That's all you can do.

Now that you've all collectively decided on the GEC....;)

Scale material has been talked about, but what this knife deserves is MOT :D A lot of people, myself included like Osage Orange, often known as bois d'arc, perhaps bois fan could be managed :D:D

If Rough Rider can offer a knife with a sheepfoot flat grind blade in various handle materials and colors no less along with match strike pulls and Stainless Steel, why can't GEC?

And before you get into China made, where is the computer, laptop, tablet, or smart phone you're using to be critical of China products made.

Of course I'd rather see a GEC than a RR but it seems GEC and the dealer are stuck on Saber Grind.

Mike can send yours to me along with my own and I can forward it to you Jon, along with fun surprises! :D seriously, just tell him

Many Thanks Dwight.....you know I was going to PM you later on:thumbsup::D
Good on you Bro.
Cheers

Oh how nice it must be if that non-existent problem is your only real problem..
No its not:cool: but if it can take my mind away from my real ones even for a few minutes ...:).
Comrade @Fodderwing has provided the solution. :D
Thank You Mike for making this happen.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I’ll have the African Blackwood, Ebony, Snakewood, mahogany, teak, etc. to go with that that tasty wavy Spam and waffle fries.
It'd taste better and have more fibre.
