2020 GEC #33 Conductor Thread

Arrived today
I do not like the Surface of the Stag at all . It appears that they have applied some sealer material .

My stag's pile side as seen above looks like that as well, almost like there's some epoxy or resin or something impregnated into it somehow. From the back it appears slightly translucent, even.

Arrived today
Overall , a very well made little knife . Opening it is smooth , blades do not touch the liners , very clean inside and out , transition of the Stag to the bolsters is well done , bolster dimples are all uniform , if I am careful opening the Pen Blade it does not touch the main blade . The Stag is only average . I do not like the Surface of the Stag at all . It appears that they have applied some sealer material . Spring is flush when either blade is opened . Another GEC Northfield in Stag that I am very happy to have .

With my other one .

Real nice looking pair Harry...

3 day first class took a week and a half but arrived today! Didn't win the stag lotto, but have seen worse too. My only complaint is the figuration / texture on the mark side doesn't extend to both ends like it does on the pile side. Thickness is uniform and even on both sides. Fit and finish are excellent with no gaps, even preflush. Background in first two pics are unused Rock Island Railroad box car seals. Rock Island switch lock in third pic.

You scored!! BIG TIME :)

33 conductor in stag showed up yesterday. The knife is beautiful, but mine has the same issue a few others reported with the main blade sitting up against the liner. I plan to carry this knife and get a lot of use out of it so I don't mind the rubbing marks on the main blade.

Old Engineer Old Engineer My Canal St. Eric's Jack in Stag had an odd kind of lacquer or varnish on it too. It's not worn off with handling and I'm not keen on this finish at all. Not seen it on any GEC knives before.

Got one on the way to Europe ,let's see how it turns out. The long wait begins ;)

Regards, Will

That is what I thought too , but I found one dealer that still had some . I just checked again and they were out of them .

My wallet is glad I didn't see this sooner. :D

To be honest I'm still debating about how much I like this little knife. It sometimes seems just a hair to small. Trying to decide if it'll end up sitting in the safe or if I'll really carry it that often. If not I might pass it along, haven't decided yet. My daughter was born in May this year, so I decided it would be nice to pick up a knife manufactured this year to carry, we'll see if this little 33 makes the cut.
