These new #62’s are an extremely well constructed knife. I have owned @ 200 GEC knives and these have perhaps the finest ground blade I have yet seen. The main displays an excellent distal taper and is ground to a very fine edge that takes minimal work to make screaming sharp. If GEC has produced a better cutting blade than on this #62, I have not seen it. Even if this pattern does not evoke a “buy me” response in you, buy it to simply see how well a modern era pocket knife can be constructed and how well it can perform. At the price, these are simply a steal.
Well stated, Jamie. They are a highly functional work of art.

Additionally, I can't recall a run of any pattern with such a high percentage of exceptional stag.

After just getting back from a month in the Middle East, Tomcat is self/company quarantined at his home office. I might as well get out my 71's and 92's and ….with some linen and burlap covers and shoot a few photos later today.
Sorry you have to be quarantined, hope posting a few photos makes the time speed by... thanks for being responsible. I look forward to your micarta pics.

I'd say it works.

Good that you got such a nice one for your first.:thumbsup:
Watch out stag can be addictive. :)

Jiki Jiki hard to imagine a bevel making a difference on those really thin secondaries, right? I hear you on the main blade. I sharpen every knife when I get it except flex cut or deepwoods ventures carving knives.

Yes the detail blades are super thin. I am just going to strop them on the belt sander with leather and compound. In time they will be full flat grinds.;)

I took a quick pic of the most recent iteration of "the family".... I might add one more, but I'm in no rush...

Very satisfying  Just shows the breadth of shields and scales options this pattern has produced, and all desirable. The build-quality of these knives leaves nothing to be desired, first-class Traditionals. Got a particular favourite?

The Black Linen Micarta on this beautiful knife is fine stuff. My photos don't do the contrast between this black, black textured cover and the silver bolsters, shield, and blades justice.

Thanks for showing this one, a rarity in the US I suspect. Certainly shows off its lines very well, looks sleek and torpedo like  Shield is very suitable too:thumbsup: since I moved home in February, had a lot of expenses with the move as expected so I couldn't run to getting one of those as well, but if I hadn't been moving...;)

Thank you! This might be like upgrading from crack to crystal meth:p

Looks very good . I am sure that it will not be your last . I would hope that you will carry it in a Slip to reduce the affect of moisture on the brass turning your nice Stag an Ugly Green . Enjoy your Stag though my friend .
Harry

Thanks Harry! She's already in a slip, albeit an ill fitting one until i can replace it. Stag seems to be like finding a can of worms inside of another can of worms:eek::D

Those pocket carvers look great. I was really trying to hold off but I may have to get a cocobolo. I don’t carve but I do love wharncliffes.

The Carver is absolutely beautiful! Nice white bone, and thin blades that fit perfectly.

"I don't need a knife with three of the same shaped blade!" I said.
But Jiki Jiki talked me into it. :p

I do a lot of art projects using disposable scalpel blades, and sometimes they aren't as smooth-cutting as you'd think. If I take my time with the extra fine ceramic stone, I think I can get some nice refined edges. :)

Got my white bone pocket carver today. I was very excited until I saw all the black spots on the cover, I believe this might have been an issue with the unicorn acrylic right?

Yes, my Unicorn had black spots on it. I was going to send it back but opted to use some 1000 grit sandpaper on it. Worked like a charm and looks good.

If it is an issue or not is up to you.

Bone is a porous material so these spots from the polishing compound are more expected on these covers. I believe the expectation with acrylic was that because it was smooth plastic it would not have the same issue.

Mine has a few, I was expecting it, it's not an issue for me. I am less discerning than some others here however.

No, not really a favorite, per se, but I tend to carry the unicorn more frequently than the others. For overall looks, the DI is difficult to beat, but I think the blue camel is gorgeous, as well. Now, the stag is pushing for more pocket time... I had it with me today.
