2021 #85 Crown Lifter

I would assume the brass liner in the second pic off to the right is used as a blade pick, or maybe a hidden clue of whats to come? There is a proper blade pick in the last pic.

Or maybe my after work cocktails bring out the wanna be detective in me.:D

Good looking out. Not that long ago it seemed GEC would accidentally on purpose show something in the what's happening pictures. Hard to guess what that's from because the perspective. Maybe a 73?

There are a few with pinkier hues.

Most of those are unfinished knives. Hopefully they dont lose color in the buffing process.

My 85 hasn't left my pocket since I received it. I really think this knife is just about perfect. It definitely needs a nice edge put on it. No blade rap! The walk n talk is outta this world. This is my first knife on the 85 pattern and I reeeeallly like the size of it. With the secondary lifter on the frame, the knife has some nice heft too. I plan on using the crown lifter more this weekend!

It does have impressive action! Pulls are pretty stout, but very satisfying walk and talk.

Is the main blade pinchable?

I bet they both will open my bottles of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout.

I have to admit I get a kick out of the name "Crown Lifter." I've grown tomatoes for many years, all heritage varieties, and one of the most popular is called "Mortgage Lifter" because it is so big and tastes so good that the man who first bred them in the Great Depression sold so many seeds for them that he was able to pay off his mortgage.

 you only need one tomato to make a pot of tomato soup!

Received this one in Monday’s mail. Having missed out on the early reserves, I didn’t think I’d get one. Glad I was wrong. GEC is back on their A Game with these - perfect (IMHO) walk and talk and very nicely finished.

GEC came very close to getting me off the bench with these cap lifters.
If it was maybe a #78 frame with a different shield, I'd have been fighting for one.

I prefer the 85 frame personally (although the 78s are not too shabby either), but I am with you on the shield.
