2021 BF Forum knife vs. Facebook & Flippers

We can hope that thru the vetting process, a sizable number of orders will be cancelled and then those knives can go to those members that didn't happen to be around on Tuesday.
We certainly can hope, and I sincerely do for those good members here that missed out. That said, should it really need to come down to hope?

I get that it is a lot of extra work to do so but the vetting should happen before the ordering. The fact that all the knives were gone before quite a few OG members even knew the sale was on, is well, embarrassing.

Looks like at worst the forum knife will not continue in the future because of this mess, and at best, it will be handled very different from this year (and that's a good thing). As for my sources cited, check the relevant threads on the Porch.

Facebook flippers in combination with a negligent dealer (though not a BF supporting dealer) seem to have created the perfect storm where forum regulars are unable to get the knives supposedly designed by and made for them. Embarrassing, infuriating, and sad all at the same time.

Hell, even if it all magically works out in the end, the amount of stress this has put on a normally laid back community cannot be over stated.

Might want to change that to "GEC Limited Run" or "Poorly organized Bladforums Prorch GEC".
GEC does non limited runs?

It is exactly the message that I want to send. Without people's "got to have" mindset there are no flippers. I fortunately was not born with that bone.

But mine was a simple mistype as well. So I'm not sure of your point.🤔😉😂
Um, okay bud. Guess you just happened to "mistype" a common homophone mistake. Convenient that, don't you think!

Anyhow, I'm done poking you over the obvious gaffe. Let's try to keep this thread on the topic of how FB flippers were allowed to infiltrate the porch knife process, while regulars have been aggravatingly excluded from the precious end result.

Oh yes the boogie man. The evil Facebook flipper. Blade Forums is full of flippers as well. In fact, most of the flippers are the knife collectors themselves. Also most people in this hobby frequent both forms of social media. You will see much fewer numbers of this year's knife being flipped, traded, or sold. Do you know why? Nobody got to buy a spare this year. Most of the "interlopers" from Facebook and elsewhere are just collectors that want the knife. Over enthusiastic? Yes. Cutting in line? Yes. Flippers? No.

Everyone here complains about how hard it is to get a hold of these knives, the standard professional flipper isn't going to learn all the in's and outs to buy a knife to flip. But do you know who will? Knife collectors. Just like shoe collectors flip sneakers and so on. So when you guys get all pissed at the boogie man, check out your pal who just bought every knife from the last three runs.

Most of this seems both astoundingly obvious and utterly irrelevant to the conversation at hand. None of us assumed that the forums are free of flippers, nor that flippers aren't into knives. I'm genuinely not sure what you thought you were adding, here.

😁

One last poke, because that was a useless rant. I hope you feel better? The old, "there's nothing you can do about the problem, members here do it too" argument don't hold water.

Yes, I'm on Facebook. No, I'm not a flipper. Yes, I am a porch member. The name of the thread is "Facebook and flippers" not Facebook flippers. Yes, I had a typo in my post, the grammar police quickly pointed that out and avoided my question. Good misdirection 👍😉. My point is that yes some people have come in to get a knife that is special maybe some will stay, hopefully a lot of them, they are good people. But this boogie man the flipper didn't come from Facebook, he has been here the whole time. A number of you who are mad at the new people, are really just mad because you couldn't get 2 and flip one.🤫

Gonna need you to cite your sources that these are good people.

I don't really think that all the facebook folk are flippers. I think they just want one of these sweet sweet GEC Barlows. If they don't post enough on Bladeforums to qualify buying one, it's pretty damn tacky to elbow regular BF members out of the way. They should arrange to have a facebook club knife made. If they want to stay here and participate, great! They can get in on next year's knife...oh wait, probably not gonna be one.
