I got the final piece to complete the trifecta in the other day. Seeing many of the pictures of the Stag that they had used in this White Owl run, I wasn't expecting to win any sort of lottery - it seems that classically attractive Stag options were a bit few and far between this go around.

Regardless, I appreciate the uniqueness of my example. It has great color and the uniform thinness is exceptional.

Aside from the well documented blade rub on these knives, the only gripe I have is that the pen blade on my jigged bone example has quite the proud tip - easy fix though, as there is quite a bit of kick there.

I like the character on that stag. Very soup-bone like.

My Stag version finally arrived after spending the week end in Milwaukee . I had to take these photos inside , so they are a little dark . I am a little disappointed in the Stag , but I have a few others to console me . The White Owl itself is very nice , and I prefer Jacks . Action is fairly smooth , but I will re-oil it and blow it out . The Spring is flush at Open and Closed . There are No Gaps seen . There is Zero Blade Rub either between the Blades or the Liners . The Scratch on the Main Blade Is Not There . It Appears to me to have been Reworked and Removed at GEC or my Dealer . Howard the Owl is still Intact .
The Stag is pretty thick , thus necessitating the Long Transitions down to those beautiful Bolsters . Some folks may say that it has a few Sunken Pins , but they are not .The more that I handle this little bugger , the more I like it . Even my wife commented that she liked it too . The Coloration in the Stag is a little Unique . Just now found a very small Burr on Swage of the Min Blade . Minor detail to me . There are Zero Gaps at the Stag and Bolster junctions . Like this knife my friends . Will be Great to have in my Northfield and Stag collections . Rest assured that it will be carried in a SLIP .

Notice the unusual Surface Fish on the Blade and Howard is sitting Proud still.

Harry - my stag also has that burr on the main blade where the swedge meets the long pull. I felt it was minor especially since the tips do not sit proud on this one.

Indeed. I've seen some bad blade rubbing and some absolutely ugly stag on several.
At $100+ I'd expect them to use some decent stag, or don't offer it at all... keep the brand high quality.
We have seen enough pictures of the Liner Rubs and the Main Blade SCRATCHES to show that there had to be some of it seen as they were being made . I may have to take back my statement of " There is no Bad Stag " . Some of that Stag should have never been put on the Liners . Back in the day of when you could Choose Your Stag , some of this Stag would Have Stayed On The Shelves for a while until it was Dis-Counted .
