2021 GEC 83 Tascosa Lock Back

I got this little guy in bocote recently. I like how light and slick it is, but I find it awkward to unlock and the lock bar gap is ugly. It is unfortunate, since everything else about the knife is wonderful. The bone handle version would be better for edc in my opinion but it looks like I missed out. I noticed the email from ksf 7 minutes after it arrived and thought I had gotten lucky...nope, sold out.

Not so much. That is usually the case with larger patterns due to availability. Go look at the 2020 production numbers on their site, and you'll see stag meets or exceeds the production numbers of the other materials. Truth be told, I was told in another conversation they are starting to have issues getting stag. I'm surprised it's taken this long as other knife companies aren't offering it at all.
 
I don't generally go for stag especially if I can't see the exact knife before purchasing but from the production photos they all seem to look great on this pattern. I already have the bocote and the jigged bone is on its way so this might have to be the exception and I might not be able to resist trying for a stag.
 
With these knives being so slim, i bet those stags have a lot going for them in hand. Too bad i most likely wont be getting one of them.

That bocote above in post 426 is pretty striking and unique. I would almost trade but i like owning my luck, what it may be.

the dark brewed below that in post 427 has me pretty excited. Mine should arrive on saturday.
 
I was fortunate enough to get them all reserved. I only have the bocote for now but it’s a beauty. Can’t wait to get the jigged bone I’m most excited for that. I’ve never had an 83 until now and it’s a great size lock back for sure.

I’m on standby for stag…like that’s going to happen.🙄 For me, that’s still a better chance then catching a drop.
I like the pattern too, just not sure I’m sold on the lock. Like others have said, this would be a perfect slip joint.

Hopefully your standby on the stag will come through, I was very surprised when I got notifications that my standby on both the bocote and the jig bone came through. Never got lucky on a standby reserve before. Good luck.

Thanks, I would really like to have a stag in hand to see how it compares to the Bocote. I’m a little more optimistic now!👍
