Seems as though a good number of the dark brew are coming without the Blade etch. I'm good with or without it. It's kind of cool anticipating which I'll get since I have one being delivered today and another one on Monday.

Had that been reported? Or is this just in jest? All ive seen have the etch i think. Gec etches are very light and at angles you cant see it but its still there

Yes, I have seen several examples posted on a GEC social media page. One of the members spoke with GEC and they acknowledged that it had mistakenly been left off of some of the blades.

Mine has no etch, theres probably a dozen or so examples posted elsewhere without them as well.

So, through a convolouted mixup, I just bought one of the dark bone 83s, when what I actually wanted was the bocote wood. Mods, let me know the policies on this / please kill this post if I'm violating any, but would anyone mind telling me what the procedure is for putting up an offer along those lines on the forum? I'm mildly confused on the protocols. It seems like it's at least prohibited for me to put contact info here, so I won't, but I can't tell if I'd have to upgrade my membership or not to either respond to a trade offer or put one up myself. I would be very glad to switch wood for bone once I can figure this out?

There is a trading forum in the knife exchange in blade forums. You shouldn't have any trouble there.

Jake, and anyone else that has both, how does the “heft” of the Bocote and the DB compare? Is one noticeably different from the other?

The bone is about 6 ounces heavier but they're about the same thickness in the hand.

GEC knocked it out of the park with these. Stylistically and functionally beautiful. I wouldn’t change a thing.

my bad. Yes, it was 6 grams heavier.

It’s about 10% heavier. Hard to tell if you aren’t holding them both at the same time.

I had an opportunity to purchase a dark brew yesterday and decided to save my pennies. I’m already regretting that after seeing more photos come through. Too many sweet knives haha. I need to get my daughter working that lemonade stand for a larger knife budget Still juiced to have a stag version coming to me. Maybe they will send me Harry’s by mistake!!

bigfish64 first set of photos in ounces next set in grams. The bocote you just forget it's in your pocket... the bone you notice it drop into your pocket then you forget it's in your pocket. Hope that helps.
