2021 GEC 83 Tascosa Lock Back

GEC83s2021-1.jpg

2021 83s. Prefer the jigged bone no etch. Bone has better texture in hand than wood and is very nicely dyed and jigged. Etch looks cool but tbh it almost detracts from the beautiful mirror finish of the missing etch version. Would choose the non etch version for the pocket as it's going to come off anyway. Non issue imo. Also prefer the long pull, deep swedge blade over the cresent pull. The shield placement looks better with the large portion giving more weight to that end and the points are centered on the center pin. Classy! 2021s all have the same visible small lock bar gap for the lock release where the 2015s none have it. My speculation is there was a slight redesign in the lock with the removal of more metal to allow it to release easier, which it does, but the cresent in the handle could have changed size slightly to cover the removal of additional metal on the release. None are fixed blade lockup, nor do they need to be. The lock is sufficient for it's purpose. Love the size, plenty of edge for 95% of my cutting purposes. Hope I get a nice stag. Have a great weekend!

bigfish64 bigfish64 first set of photos in ounces next set in grams. The bocote you just forget it's in your pocket... the bone you notice it drop into your pocket then you forget it's in your pocket. 😂 Hope that helps.
It sure does untytled, you went over and above! Thanks so much for the effort!
😊👍

The #83 Tascosa Lockback was an absolute home run by GEC. The only nit pick I have is the small scratches the bolsters/blade came with and the lock bar gap. The Bocote is my favorite example thus far, glass action and a wonderful snap. Looking forward to receiving my first in stag soon. Can’t get enough of these little knives!

The gap that was mentioned by some folks earlier to be honest I’ve never noticed until it was brought up. Mine is minimal and really doesn’t bother me. Not sure if The gap is bigger on others but either way I’m ok with it and I think it’s a really beautiful and well made knife. I do understand and respect how some might have different feelings about it.

Beautiful examples you have there !
If I may add the handling marks on the bolsters can easily polish off with some Flitz or even some jewelers Rouge 👍🏻

Here's a better picture in some sunlight.
The color contrast on the bottom is very striking.
This will be on its way to the new owner on Monday. GEC bartering has become pretty fun. Wound much rather trade with a porch member than pay a scalper.

this is about the best looking one i've seen so far. have many others received bocote with this kind of grain? got my jigged bone today, looks *really* nice, but still thinking I'm going to try and trade for a bocote, ideally if I can find one with this kind of a pattern
