2021 GEC 83 Tascosa Lock Back

For those who've received some 'bulging' Stag - looks like a Python after it's swallowed some massive prey :cool: It has a lot of advantages if the knife is going to be a USER rather than a DISPLAY object. It may look weird but it offers really good grip and in hand comfort, thick slabs are really no bad thing on a smaller knife anyway.

As Our Seer Harry has noted, no such thing as bad Stag :D but there is also badass Stag🤘

Mine is going to be a user for sure which is why I was hoping for a fatter one, like it is. I would have preferred the bone to be more white instead of yellow, but that’s being picky

Good stuff, but Stag that arrives white/ish always yellows and darkens with carry unless you bleach it....

I've carried one of my 83s everyday since receiving the bocote. I thought the jigged would be my favorite but the stag is the star of the show. I can't quit that thick stag. The bocote may have to find a new owner as it it not being used.

I’ve had all 3. I targeted the bocote because I wanted more wood covers in my collection and it did not disappoint. The bone was meant for a friend but I got a chance to check it out. Very nice and classy looking, and the coloring was excellent. I went for a stag because I only had the one 78 in my collection. I don’t want to get in the business of collecting stag, but the 83 pattern is awesome that the stag really excels on. Mine is of the thick variety making it the most comfortable to use. I really like the bocote and stag, which I kept, however I think the bone is the best looking of the run. Can’t go wrong with any of the options because this was a great run.

That shield! Unexcelled! Knobby stag! 🤩

2021s on the left, 2015s on the right and my user at the bottom is a coco 2015. The stags have the best lockup, virtually solid. My coco 83 user has the worst lockup, probably because I occasionally twist it during use. Can pinch it and improve it, but the play comes back. Re-peening would probably improve it but it's good enough for it's intended purpose. Considering stags are produced at the end of the run, my speculation is lock assembly proficiency improved towards the end of the run, practice makes perfect. Not a knock, just an observation. Love the thin, knobby stag on the 2015, not a fan of obese stag. Dark brewed jigged bone would be next in line, great texture, nice colors, long pull. 83s are one of my favorite users, satisfied to have a lifetime supply.

I think Chief Chief likes his Tascosas! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Amazing collection as always!

My first GEC since the 33 run. Based on posted pics, I think I got Dark Brew on the lighter side. I think the handles look fantastic :D Much better than I expected. No horizontal play and just the teeniest, tiniest bit of vertical play. Not enough to bother. A lovely knife :thumbsup:
