2021 GEC 83 Tascosa Lock Back

I didn’t realize it was the same size as a 15. Kinda makes me want one even more.
The 15 is slightly longer overall and slightly thicker. The 83 feels slightly smaller in the hand.
But they are indeed similar in size, with the 15 being the larger of the two.
In my humble opinion, the 83 is a perfect, small lockback.

Funny how 83 was mentioned for a possibility for the forum knife and lo and behold, we have an 83 coming. Im really hoping i can snag one but will most likely need to pay the $75 convenience fee to avoid the lolliscramble.

These are an excellent pattern in my view, a lot of blade in a compact frame, I greatly prefer the Drop-Point version to the Clip though. I like that it locks, plus it's easy to open but I suppose there's a school of thought influenced by the behemoth Buck 110 ;) that believes a locking knife must be massive... There is a very slight degree of up and down play but VERY slight, if you want peerless construction in a smaller lockback then buy a Moki- they are superbly finished and the spine/spring line up makes it look like a fixed blade

I'd very much like to get a Northfield Jigged Bone but being in Europe they'll be all sold out & many already on the 2nd hand 'black market' -I've overbought and wanna share the love at 3X mark up - ;) by the time I get up for breakfast...But get one if you can, they're attractive AND good users alright

Thanks, Will

I didn’t either. I don’t know why I assumed they were bigger. I’ll definitely want at least one of the variants now, probably micarta. This thread has been enlightening for sure.

And who knows, if these linger on the shelves a while...

Sorry, John, I couldn't resist.

As promised : Lower 2 are 83s and upper is a 43

Harry, catching a glimpse of some of your Stag collection is always an immense pleasure - it always serves to humble my own efforts. One of my biggest regrets is not being able to score a #43 and #35 in Stag - they both were produced when my interest in Stag had not quite solidified.

Out of the three recently announced production runs (four, if you include the forum knife), the one that piques my curiosity the most (also aside from the proposed forum knife) is the #83. I am hoping to be able to land at least one, preferably in Stag.

Call me crazy but...I still haven't quite come around to stag on folders, I mean it's not bad, but it makes for a bulky inconsistent cover.

But I'm probably just an ignorant heretic.

Not at all. It took me a wee bit to warm up to Stag and now it has become one of my favorite covers.

I use to help a buddy run a table of blade ware at fairs and festivals and such. I had become accustomed to seeing so much cheaply made garbage that was dressed up in poorly fit Stag or even fake Stag in some cases that for awhile afterwards, anything that I saw built with any sort of antler conveyed poor quality to me.

Nowadays, I still do not subscribe to the notion that there is "No Bad Stag" but I very much enjoy the material and find it very fitting when my cutting tools are clad in something that our ancestors (distant and otherwise) used as tools in a number of manners.

My selection is not nearly as epic as Harry's but here is a quick snap of some of mine - there as some others tucked away in other drawers.

I must say those are beautiful, you have a collection to be envied.

Anyone manage to reserve one? I'm on standby on the micarta and jigged bone. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I don't know how I could have been humanly faster (right place, right time) but I still only managed to get on standby for Stag - which is the one I wanted. Got a Jigged Bone secured at least...

I feel bad for Mike, his site got hammered - I had no idea that my selections went through until I got an email confirmation, the web page was stuck spinning.

I am at least looking forward to what sort of jigged bone they will be using and the color/shield combo - should make for a rather attractive little knife.
