2022 Ben Hogan #65 thread

Postie just paid me a visit and this is fresh out of the tube. My first knife with Osage Orange Wood and I find it quite attractive! The knife is typical GEC quality with excellent fit and finish and the blade is razor sharp. The history of Osage Orange Wood on the tube is imho very cool!

That’s really cool they put the history on the tube. Hopefully we will see more tidbits of information on tubes in the future.

Being a neophyte when it comes to knife knowledge I have an inquiry to those who have forgotten more about knives then I’ll ever know. Is the bolster on the #65 a “Birds-head”?

It looks like a copperhead to me but I could be wrong.
It definitely is a copperhead style bolster. I wanted to add one little bit of GEC trivia. The bolster used on the 65’s is the same bolster used on both ends of the #16 Canoes.

Didn't think I'd even consider another Hogan in addition to my 2011 Ebony one
But that white smooth bone with corset shield has me rethinking 🤔 😲

Since I “took a break” from buying GECs I bought an 88 gator and landed a 65 Osage orange today. I couldn’t resist the Osage orange and stainless (everything rusts out here). Lately my carry has been a Buck 112 but I’m thinking this should be a comparable nice size.

Any stainless GEC is a smart buy. The bar shield and lanyard hole are also awesome on this particular version.
