2022 Knives Listed on Buck Website...and then Delisted...Live Again!

Flush it out with some warm soapy water, and work the blade open and closed, a lot. Put a little pressure to the left side while you work it. The blade should find its way toward center at the pivot which should solve the closed centering issue.
There's a bronze bushing insert in the blade pivot. The blade should be turning on the bronze insert, not the brass pivot pin so the blade should walk over to center.
If it doesn't right itself, send it back.
At the (low) risk of scuffing the blade, while working it open/closed, you could put a .003 or .005 feeler gauge blade between the frame and blade on the tight side to move it over as well.
Piece of cake, and won't cost you time and postage.

Thanks for the input, everyone...I'm going to think it over between some of the options suggested.
As I mentioned, I've always been a big Buck fan and the materials on this knife really are high quality. I have never had to deal with the warranty department for exchanges, returns, or anything like that, so I'm a little shy about doing that.
However, I really should do something to get it as close to a perfect example as possible or it will eat at me for sure 🙃

I sent an email to Buck last night about the grind on my 212 Pro. I had an email asking for a couple of pictures waiting for me when I woke up. I sent them, and they responded within minutes asking for my full name and address, so they could send me a prepaid label.

That's Buck service for ya.

That is great to hear! Thanks for sharing that update.

So I did get the first shipment from 2022, it was missing one knife from the order and a pair of knife stands. Why is that disappointing you might ask, well it adds to the total cost when the shipping charge is $25 so that adds to the item cost percentage. So I'll post a few photos of the 2 112 50th knives with comments for the good and the bad.

These are really just standard 112s with a different blade stamp and escutcheon plate added to the scale, shipped in a fancy black box. For a standard user these are functionally fine knives and ready for a lifetime of use. I like these and recommend them at their price point (total dealers shipped price $60 each).

Now my minor complaints and they are nit picky. However, as these were shipped in Bucks new LE boxes (to me I'd rater have the yellow boxes as one of them was split on the side?)
Poor polishing on both knives!

The Blades on both knives have a divot in the clip section? Very small, However, very noticeable in hand (hard to photograph).

Did any of you folks who got these 50th 112s get the clip edge nicks like both of mine did? As one is a finger groove and one is standard I assume they were not ground on the same day so something was off during manufacturing.

I got a 112 about three years ago with the same mark on the blade. I wonder if they clamp the blade in a fixture during production that makes the dent.

Well... The replacement Buck 212 Ranger limited edition came in today. The grind is just as bad. In fact it has the same grind imperfection as the last one... The primary edge is ground considerably more on the right side compared to the left side. So much so that the tip of the knife looks like a chisel. The replacement came with a bonus disappointment too... The grind on the swedge is way off. One side of the swedge grind extends half a centimeter past the other. I marked it with a dry erase marker in the video to make it more visible. Maybe I'm just being too picky... But this is a $350 knife and I expect more out of something that retails for that much. I guess I'm back to turning my nose up at Buck knives that cost more than ~$150. :(

The wonky swedge is the first few seconds of the video, and the end shows the chisel tip. :(

The ironwood on this one is gorgeous though. My wife likes the ironwood so much, she doesn't want me to send it back... So I think I'll send it to one of our forum's very skilled sharpeners to see what they can do with it.

That's a bummer man. Two strikes.

I ended up sending a 040 Onset back due to bad blade grind. About every inch it had a different angle to the grind. Almost like someone used a 1" hand file to sharpen the blade.

Fixall Fixall You made me take a relook at my recently received 212. I was happy with it until I looked again, like yours, great wood. Mine has an even grind, it does start a bit forward of the tang though not as much as yours. The now noticed disapointment.... my swedge is way off also. I would think this is a fixtured machine operation and should be perfect. While I'm on my high horse, as a person who has to store alot of knife boxes (more than 20) I hate the goofy size inappropriate magnetic boxes. A good quality sturdy size appropriate 2 piece box would be nicer.

Not bad if you look at each side individually but the swedge and blade grind do not merge to the tip symmetrically when compared side by side.

That thumb stud on the above pictured 110 looks handy as hell. Also the ranger model is calling me! What beautiful wood and brass on these knives. No wonder everyone loves such an attractive and well made blade such as these Bucks.

This is a bit disheartening to see this kind of craftsmanship in miss-grinds and the very high price being charged for it. If they have a new person doing this why on a high priced limited edition or legacy model? Wouldn’t you want your most talented person doing the top end knives ? Let the new guy learn on the lower end knives. I know Buck isn’t doing on purpose but they better get it together soon. Consumers will not put up with that. If it’s blemished then it needs to be sold as a blem. If its a legacy or limited knife it needs to be a high standard of finishing.

I'm with you. When I pulled it out of the box, my first thought was "did a new-hire grind this?"... My second thought was "do they also have a new-hire doing quality control?". I don't think something priced this high should have left the factory with the grind it has. I mean, I could have a really nice CPK or REK fixed blade for the price I paid. :(

Overall, I'm just kind of sad. I've been seeing more and more signs that Buck is slipping (it's been brought up enough in other threads, so I won't list everything here), and I'm just really concerned about where one of my favorite companies seems to be heading.

Here's a "blem" I picked up from the factory store back in 2018. It wasn't good enough to pass muster back then, but 3 1/2 years later and I still can't figure out what the blemish is (maybe the ant?).
