2023 GEC Cody Scout #721123LB

I could be wrong but it seems that, even in a traditional forum, there exists an unrelenting demand for novelty.

I read an interesting article about how the custom mega-yacht industry is struggling to come up with "new and exciting" exotic materials to furnish their boats with in order to impress their future clientele -- because the next silly out-of-touch billionaire who wants a custom mega-yacht obviously can't bear the thought of having the same exotic upholstery as Jeff Bezos has on his.

I'm ok with Che Chen and if anybody has a GEC in it that's too pedestrian for them, I'll gladly take it off their hands at 50% of what they paid for it if they'll cover the shipping. 🤣
It's just personal preference. How boring would it be if we all said yes to everything all the time and liked all of the same stuff?? Booooooo

But what you care about then? Name of the material? Toughness? Feel?
I don't like the way the rosewood looks. Can we not like something now and express our opinions on it? I normally prefer ebony, but I'm not really a wood guy so maybe that's the reason I don't care for it. Or maybe I was just looking for a different wood to be used since the recent 47s were in rosewood as well. Just something different. Seemed like a missed opportunity on a killer pattern that's highly sought after.

There's a whole lot of different out there that's ripe for exploration! You're certainly entitled to your preferences and opinion! I only meant to acknowledge the paradox that on a forum which proudly identifies itself as focusing on the traditional, many contributors (not just you) consistently express a desire for something "different" at the same time as many others are asking for a re-run of a popular pattern that they missed. Gotta admit there's an opportunity for a chuckle there.

Maybe if GEC keeps dropping models in Che Chen Rosewood the folks who keep missing out will finally have a chance to pick one up -- but I doubt it.

As for me -- bone, wood, stag, acrylic, delrin, micarta, stabilized chicken nuggets, unicorn skin, synthetic narwhal tusk, polymerized grizzly bear fat, whatever - it all works. I'm mostly in it for the craftsmanship and the patina. Pretty covers are just a bonus.

Take it easy. It's just you said you don't care about aesthetics, but isn't appearance belongs to aesthetics category? Hence the question, no offense meant.
