2023 GEC Cody Scout #721123LB

There is always some vertical movement in every lockback construction. Even Cold Steel's Tri-Ad lock version of LB has that movement if pushed up and down with enough force. My advice here is just relax, forget it, and enjoy the knife.
Meet me and my CS 4max by the flagpole at 3:15.

I’ve put my name in for a che Chen rosewood, haven’t had much luck getting them but fingers crossed.

Chen Chen first. I was unsure about the bone. I researched the bone and went back to the site and reserved a spot for the bone as well. Perhaps it's one per customer. 🤔
I think the reserve language would have stated so. I reserved jigged first, sienna second. Who knows. I hope it works out for you. 👍

I did hear that some sienna reserve was released days before I received my notice. Maybe they are being released in batches?

I got an email last week for sienna bone
Me too, got shipping notification today. I recall that in the description for the early reserve it said that there probably wouldn't be stock available for standby reservations.

Anyone else have just a slight amount of up and down movement on their 72? I haven't flushed the joint yet, I'm sort of hoping there is just some gunk in the way keeping it from being tight, hoping and praying. To be fair it's not much movement, but it's there.
Yep, slight bit of up and down. If anyone can explain how that might negatively impact it's ability to be a knife, I'll start trying to get upset about it. Slippery slope though, if I can't tolerate a bit of slop in my 72, then I'm gonna be really upset next time I pull out the 'ol M70AB2. She's a rattly and reliable slop machine!

I have heard it said many times about the #74 which is the same length but not a lockback. I like the lockback feature much more. Wish they would have an Ebony this round.
Me too buddy, I wish they'd have done ebony instead of Chechen. Hell, anything other then Chechen again!!

Chechen is...

Same here. I haven't received an email from CK yet.
Im new to CK Reserve system but on their website it says what Standby means. Basically your at the bottom of the list and probably wont be getting one unless other members decide they don't want the one they reserved or maybe they got more from GEC than anticipated. They tell you to go buy from somewhere else if you can. Im on standby myself and I don't think I will have the opportunity to buy one from CK but I will if I can.

"A “Standby” reservation is a) not committed to purchase the knife even if it does became available; and b) not necessarily notified if none are available, but we will try and communicate as well as we can. But, with GEC’s specifically, if you are Standby please assume you will not be notified and feel free to pick one up elsewhere".

OK. I think I know what's going on with my situation. When the 87 was offered, I selected a jigged bone 87. When it finally was available, the jigged bone was Indian paint (red with yellow edges). I did not like the color scheme and did not purchase the knife. The knife was sold to the next person.

I just read on the CK website, if you do not go through with a purchase, your email is placed on a restriction. You are no longer able to place your name on the reserve list. If I would like the restriction lifted, it's a $20 fee. Second time it's $50.

I can safely assume this is the case with me.

If you committed and said yes "sure" I will buy this knife and when the time came to buy it you said NO, thats when you get penalized with the fees.

You and me, were late to the party. By the time we said Yes I will buy it, the Reserve was already full. You are not in trouble or owe anything. Standby just means you wasn't fast enough to get into the reserve and if theres a couple left over after the reserve is filled you "Might" have a chance. Which is probably slim to none as why they say feel free to purchase elsewhere if the opportunity arrives. A standby position wont be penalized if you say no when it comes time to buy. Like you already got one from another dealer.

Well maybe you are restricted. If you committed to buying and after you seen the knife and didnt buy it, yes you broke the rules.

Cool, really. Though maybe try to rock it with more force... 😅 Joking! No need to discover that lock rock, especially if it's not there.
Well that's what I'm saying, I don't have to apply much force to see the top and down movement on the 72. It's minute, but it's there. Like I said I'll try flushing and then ignoring, I'm not saying it's not a great knife.

And ya I'm not gonna try harder to find any movement on my Buck, I'm gonna leave that one be :D like I said, I am way more sensitive to this kind of thing than most rational people. It's a personal problem of having way too high expectations.
