2025 first knife purchase?

Right now it's looking like it's going to be a surprise. I have 3 coming sometime soon ... a knife from a generous GAW I was very lucky to win here ... the BF 2024 GEC 91 4 blade Stockman knife which are currently shipping (I've not receieved a shipping notification yet) ... and one of Charlie's City Stock 2 blade Stockman that was very graciously offered to me a in the last couple of days.

So they may all be in the running for my first of 2025 ... or if they all make it under the wire before the new year ... then it will become another "wait and see which makes it first" from a CPK preorder and a custom order from one of our very talented makers here that I'll be placing sometime early in the year.

And after all of that ... I still have no idea what will be the first knife of 2025. 🤔 Maybe I should just give in and buy that Shiro I keep looking at on New Years Eve ... you know just to quell the anxiety and stress of anticipation. Hey! I think I'm onto something here ... yeah, that's the ticket ... buy the Shiro to solve the problem ... GENIUS!

Thanks for talking me through that guys! Everybody is so helpful! 🥳😏😉

At First, I thought you bought six of them.

I trout fish on the White River, using a drag chain to keep the boat drifting straight. I just ordered an orange serrated Mora Companion to zip tie to the railing at the bow of the boat, in case a line needs to be cut right now. It's taking the place of a Cold Steel Canadian that I can't get sharp enough to suit me.

P.S. I'll give that Canadian to anyone who wants it bad enough to pay shipping.

I'm all over the place with what might be first... civivi in damascus, esee 5, case slipjoint, or maybe a full serrated spyderco. Can't make up my mind what I "need." What I really need is to get out of this firearm kick so I can really start trying to make some knives.

I do not have any plans for further knife purchases next year, but I never say never until after I see what the Case vault pattern is, and the forum knife.
However, I do have a new little item on order that should be delivered before Jan 1st, a new Pro-Tech Strider in CPM Magnacut 😁
I am excited to try it out, my first Magnacut blade, my first Pro-tech, and my first Strider design so it should be fun. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Birthday to me 😄

Case vault pattern
I hear ya !
Some of those old designs really do it for me.
This year I haven't been able to leave the house without a Case Swell Center Jack in my pocket. I bought several. THEE ONE seems to be the black smooth delrin. I'm a sucker for black scales and tarnished brass pins (and brass liners). Of coarse I had to do my normal MO and remove one blade so I could really grip that swell center handle. Which blade did I keep ?
BOTH, I bought two black dels and kept the long clip blade on one and the little spear/pen blade on the other. Knocked the sharpening angle way back / acute on both.
Little bits of heaven; they just feel like coming home every time I use one .

Honorable mention goes to the Case Barlow. That recent offering was the only Barlow I have ever seen that could turn my head. Got a couple.

Some how I keep thinking the Case Canoe is a vault release but I must be hallucinating because they keep coming out with new variations. LOVE THOSE THIN BLADES !
and the ergos means the grip works with both blades on the knife. Brilliant design !

To bang on a little more I have to say I had to skip the One Arm Razor. I always wanted to try one but I know from my Doctor's Knives that square sharp cornered butt end will bite my palm and I won't carry it because of that (and there have been too many "must have" knives this year to let any mad money go to the One Arm).

I made a new year resolution... no more knives. Let's hope I can stick to it ;)

Seriously though, I saw a youtube video of a guy who lost a Delica he had carried for years (his only knife). He searched for months, but could not find it. Then his wife, saved up enough money and bought a new one for his birthday. He went without a knife for six months. That sort of made me feel bad. I have enough knives. I've been fortunate enough to buy many knives and figure out what works best for me (Spyderco, Cold Steel, Demko, Mora). But this guy did everything with one old Delica.

Nothing is on the radar.

Same.

Pretty set n done when it comes to knives and its rare for me to spot something I like these days that I dont already have or have a better version of.

I've been looking at the Chaves Redencion frame lock and the Microtech Scarab or Combat Troodon.
I know I'm scattered .... but it will be one of those.

Yep, I kinda feel this way about my inbound Rosie XL, it's a grail knife for me and I plan to hold off buying more knives for a while, but I've been wrong before!
Quit lying to yourself and your knife bros! We all know you will be buying more in no time. Addiction is addiction my friend! Ask me how I know? 😔😉😜
