After using the Rubber scaled 110 for the past 2 weeks, I have to say I really like this combination.

I used it for mundane tasks like cutting cardboard, tape on boxes, then for more interesting things;

- like peeling wallpaper, picture posted earlier... even after 2 hours of use the rubber buck for lifting the wallpaper, it was still comfortable to use.

- cutting out some rotted wood from window trim

- cutting carpet, this knife combination worked perfectly, great grip

- after that it needed shapening the forward curved part of the blade was dull, used my trusty buck washita stone, even though I did not take a picture, when I was done, it sliced paper like butter :)

The real surprise to me was this excellent holster -- I discovered (after trading emails with Jack) that it could be worn as a cross draw. What a nice combination... I ordered one. :)

Dave, nice to use this knife, I'd like to see Buck introduce a 110 with changeable scales, perhaps with 3 to 4 small torx screws to secure them.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July

well well more kinds words of gripeabbiity for the rubber bucky!
interchangeably of grips would lend it to multi use..
now what other scales would you want and for what use?

this is for any one to comment on !!!

ugh.. hummm...
any one thought of a possable alliance
with Pachmayr Division Of Lyman Products Corp ? :D
or is it a :foot: thought?

>>now what other scales would you want and for what use?

Here's what I;d like to see:

1) rubber grips - Pachmayr or like quality would be good for tasks that require a good grip
2) ironwood grips - good, durable wood product
3) other wood scales - hardwood: red oak, maple & ash
4) antler - stag, etc - when you need it for more formal events

Nice review and pics Mainiac.

I really liked the Schrade Pachmayer knife posted earlier in this thread. A 110 with a Pachmayer scales would be really cool. I'm sure it would be a hit with all the gun nuts.

Other materials I'd like to see are Micarta and G10.

Well I talked to Mother Hawk last night and Decaff's rubber scale

110 arrived in east Texas from Woody up in Maine..

She and the oldest dauther both like the grippy rubber

and the sheath that Rudderjt made for it. :D I will be back

home Thursday and start putting up mater's and get pic's.
I can't to try it out.

Thanks Messer -- your post made me go back and look for that post. What a sweet looking knife:

I'd love to see a 110FG with THESE scales.

well buck has had pewter as scales on a 110..
and there is a record of sterling silver on a 110..
personly i like the curved radisus of the new 111 ReallY well
with thoughts of two star screws and interchangeing
diffrent scales... that and being able to order screws and a totaly
diffrent look in scales depending on were you will be useing it for as your
carry that day ... or changeing theams...
yea phone call next year at motel in post falls-
"hay goose , i was thinking of putting on the aplhia grips on that 111 to ware to da show, what you think? look cool? ..."
"well dave, with them tan combat boots ya said ya was wareing dont ya think it woulld match better with the sand camo scales?..now i was going to use them snake scales that leroy made for me on mine ta go with them new snake skin biker boots i got."
" yea goose, you are right ... 'cidesit would not do to have the same scales on a belt knife that some one else has unless it' thoes bad looking little balck jig horn that go with every thing you know..."
" yep dave, that's right- nothing like simple elgeant bad a-- black and nickel... "
       :D

Well I got back home and there was Decaf's Rubber scale 110.
Started putting up Mater's.

The rubber really grips your hand .The rubber scales would be great for cleaning fish, and Deer and such. And putting up mater's...I really like the way they came out Dave you did a great job.

The sheath is cool also. The rubber really gripes the sheath well.I don't
think it would ever fall out.

Thanks for letting me try her out Dave. Who would like to have it next?

Just a quick comment on the Pachmayr grip idea...I've had several Pachmayr grips for my Colt Auto...never liked them, but that was not related to the rubber material...the rubber had a steel plate inside, to hold the shape and give the grip screws something to bite on...

A Pachmayr 110 sounds neat...whether removable or not...and a collaboration between Pachmayr and Buck would pretty much be a win-win situation for Buck, since they would not have to experiment with material selection, shrink rates, mold release agent, etc...

Maybe a Pachmayr 111, like Dave said??? And if we're going to get jazzy, how about a Nickel Silver Pachmayr 111 Selector??? Ooh, ahh... :p

If not Pachmayr, perhaps Colt or Ruger? (or S&W if it didn't infringe on their current licensing to whatever company is making S&W knives)

Chickentrax -- I've got the pachmayr grips on a 380 auto and really like them. Maybe it just depends on the fit?

I like the weapon to "settle" in my hand with the first shot...with the rubber Pachmayrs, it doesn't...it stays wherever it was when you drew it...I have just about every material and thickness available, as well as many of my own make (black Micarta, of course!) and I still prefer a worn Colt wooden grip...the more worn, the better... :)

:D
That is a beauty of a knife Jeff, thanks for sharing the pic.. did you like the edge I left on it for you?

It was really was sharp. Woody...You did a good job.It cuts through
them mater's real good.:D I like the way it feals in the hand. That blade
is very pointed too.Did you use the stone or the lanskey to get her sharp?

I don't like rubber grips on my pistol. It got to be wood,or ivory.Like
trax said it needs to move in the hand.Worm wood or ivory is great
for that.
