What reason are they hunted for? Boots? To eat? I never realized anyone would hunt 'em! What is the preferred caliber?
I always just thought they were speed bumps like possum :) J/K

folks from south of the reo grande realy have a tast for them
exp on the southern west cost of mex.

was reacently featured on strange foods by some balding fat cheif...

they are known to carry lepersey

yes yo can make boots of them but ya will jump when car head lights hit ya

aka as hoover turky during the depresson

will dig holes for horses and cows to step in and break legs...
they are real hard to catch by hand

.222 is jest fine for close in
25-06 for way outs

45/70 ...humm nothing but a red puff right?
at least nothing large enught to realy use a knife on for sure :D
besides i liked the rugger .44 mag 12 inch i had...
nice little hand cannon ...target shooting at 100 yards !
ear plugs a must tho!

of course i liked that 45 cal smoke pole a whole lot !!!
shakey as i am it gave the dillos a chance...
i laffed my but off the first time i seen one up side down on de side o the
road with a pearl beer bottle in its feet!!! :D

I've got a .50 cal black powder rifle that's fun to shoot ;)

Projectile may not be that fast, but talk about hitting impact!

Yea ..speed bumps Woody.. There old hide is purty hard on the tires.We do have a lot of them in Texas,thats for sure.

Me and the brother-in-law like to ride around at the deer lease and shoot
them with our sissyfied,small bore 44 mag pistels..;) ;) ;) ;)

Nice photo's Jeff,

I have to admit that I also am a sissy and have three 44 mags. A S&W 29 Classic Hunter, a Ruger Redhawk, and a Colt Anaconda. Sorry to say that I sold a 10.5" Ruger Blackhawk that was just to fun to shoot. I like to shoot 240gr speer JHP in 44SPL; that Redhawk is a tack driver with that load.

However, my current favorite gun is my Marlin 1895 in 45/70.....it shoots a 400gr SP dead on at 50 yards and still hits the same point of impact at 100 yards....dam flat shooting for that hunk of lead!!!!! Got to love a bullet that looks like a cigar:thumbup: . I hope you know I'm just pulling your leg and don't mean to piss anyone off:p .

My bro had a .45-70, I think I shot it twice... I dont want a deer that bad LOL ;)
They don't go far when you hit 'em though!

I know you are pulling my leg.I just needed an excues to put the hog pic
in my photobucket thing anyway.I also shoot the rem.240 gr.soft point
in my S&W mod 29.that way I have something to cut up with my newest Buck knife.;) Thanks for shairing with us J.B.
I also have a friend in louisiana that only hunts deer with a 45.70 marlin.He has taken so very large rack bucks with it
over the years.
