.38 Special!!

My 38 just arrived. It exceeds my expectations. Fit and finish is excellent. Half stops on the two smaller blades, none on the main. Edges are sharp, but could use a bit of stropping to get the hair to pop.
Love the jigged bone on this knife and the color. Well done.

Thanks for those really useful pix, the backspring shot is particularly impressive:thumbup:

I've got one of those bone Tidioutes winging its way across the Atlantic as we communicate, it MIGHT get here before Easter:cool: If it does I will be a very contented Rabbit:D

Lyle's forthcoming Antique Yellow version really gets me salivating:thumbup::thumbup: A monstrous temptation for us enthusiasts in Europe, will be hard to access unfortunately but I've got a few fruit trees that could use superior attention:eek::D:D

Thanks, Will

I was trying to hold out and refrain from getting one of these, but the straw that broke the camel's back for me was the sunken joints on both ends. This Pattern just looks so classic, sleek, and useful. I love GEC's 12 pattern, for its sleekness, but this one looks to one up it while adding two secondary blades!

Quick comparison shot.

Awsome green bone Bozack

Awesome variations on this pattern, love them all. I have reserved a couple Northfield Grinlings and a couple Tidioute Chapmans. Too slow on Charlie or Lyle's versions but will likely keep an eye open for one to pop up on the Exchange.

Bozack, If I may ask, what color is the handle on that #62 Courthouse. That is fantastic!

Hi guys. It's good to see that Charlie is still bringing old patterns back to life. It's good to see other collectors becoming involved as well. Are the knives in the American Whittler SFO for sale or are they already reserved? Yesterday I sent an email inquiry to but haven't received a reply.

If I remember correctly it was a version of jigged green bone. Always kind of reminded me of the yellow banana bone of that timeframe for some reason.

I'm really excited to see what this new jigged peachseed bone is all about. If it's anything like the Schrade peachseed often seen on the old 804's, then we Whittler folks are in for a treat!!!

We will now return you to your regularly-scheduled programming.

Nice to see your face, Jake!!

Are you back for good??

I think I'm really going to like the #38 pattern. I have a Che Chen Grinling Whittler on the way, and reservations for what I hope prove to be a modest gaggle of Charlie's and Lyle's SFOs.

As a JRR Tolkien fan, I love that Charlie's Diamond etch can be read either "ORCHARD" or "ORC HARD". GEC steel must be pretty tough to be Orc hard. :D

I will buy maybe one or two new knives this year. Happily, I think I have one of Lyle's Farmer jacks on reserve. Attending the GEC picnic you get a chance to meet so many good people, and hopefully I will get a chance to see Lyle and have him sign the tube for me. Dave.

Thanks all for the interest and nice comments.Maybe you will give me your autograph too Dave.:)

Jake ,here is a proof of my version without the new jigging and my etch.As you can see it has a bar shield. My etch will have Lick ;(Barry's rendition of the little house);then Creek. He did a wonderfully PATIENT job on the blade etch.Proof is not back quite yet, very soon.

Wow Lyle, that bar is simple, understated and dignified--befitting for your SFO. Very well done and I already have a reservation for one of each! :)
