6 New Zero Tolerance Folders Announced at the 2016 SHOT Show

There are much cheaper Kershaw's with them. ZT is supposed to be upscale. Filler tabs are cheap to produce.
Filler tabs aren't a big deal to me, but I've got to agree with you. The Ferrite has a filler tab, as someone else said. I can't imagine machining a filler tab for each knife, considering that these are not limited productions, would actually add much cost of production for ZT. And even though it's not a big deal for me, I'd pay an extra dollar or so for it. I highly doubt it'd cost more than that in added materials, labor, and overhead (again, due to quantity).

If you go by sheer volume of sales assisted openers don't even register. Victorinox and Opinel outsell everything else by several orders of magnitude.

Except were talking about pocket knives, with clips, locks and one handed opening. Two co.pletely different categories.

Box cuttersand scissors outsell everyone by your logic...

It depends what you mean by that. It will be able to puncture into boxes, plastic packages, and most other things that you need to puncture into on a day to day basis.

I'm very to knew to the knife world and I was just reading about different blade types and their intended use. 0456 has sheepsfoot blade type which is not intended for penetration, but in this case its point is modified and I assume it is done to provide some kind of penetratation qualities to the blade (beside stylistic reasons). Thus my question, how will it perform compared to other blade types?

Oh ok, well, pretty much what I said. It will work fine for normal day to day edc stuff. You can pretty much judge how well a blade will pierce things by the angle the edge and spine make at the tip (and the thickness of the blade).

Do you have any knives that you'd like it compared to?

Why is ZT making so many small knives LOL?...

I'm still waiting for the XL 0300 with upgraded blade steel.

Long live the old school ZT models. ;):foot:

Militarized beasts are the way to go.:thumbup::thumbup:

The new stuff does look nice though.

If I decide to get the 0456 and feel frisky about it, maybe I'll do this:

And if I get really wild with it (and the construction allows):

Also, done on my phone, so couldn't make nice lines.

You made a claim without qualifications or evidence, I pointed out that it was false. Now you're qualifying it, which is fine, but I'd still like to see the numbers you're basing it on.

0804CF and 0909 have blade lengths of 3.8"-3.9" and from last year they have 0452CF with a 4.1" blade!

They have a bunch of folders with blade lengths of 3.5"-3.6": 0801, 0562, 0630, 0620, 0095BW, 0220.

They have a bunch of folders with blade length of 3.25": 0450, 0456, 0808, 0566 and 0350.

They have just one folder with a blade length under 3.25": 0900 (2.75").

Also, you can still find 0560BW, 0300BW and 0301.

Diversity!

Did I miss that the 0300 series is discontinued? Maybe I forgot.

I really like them all. Lately I've been buying almost every single model ZT comes out with. The guys at my local knife store know that as soon as new ZTs arrive, they have to call me before even putting them on display (usually only one or two of each is imported into the country).

Most of the 0200, 0300, 0301, 0560 and 0561 series models were discontinued in late 2014. They've only kept a few specific models around: 0560BW, 0300BW and 0301.

The current and upcoming production models are on the ZT manufacturer page: http://zt.kaiusaltd.com/knives

However, for some models you'll see it say "DISCONTINUED" under the MSRP.

I love diversity and thank you for the info, however I still prefer larger than that; I'd love to see ZT expand into the 4", 5" and mabye even 6" blade range and still maintain a beefy, military/tactical design/style instead of the more gentlemanly approach with all Ti handles or carbon fiber (still beefy designs on some new models, I know ;)) that seems to influence their designs now...

The 452 cf is a long thin knife; I like em chunky! (not that I'd be against owning one either LOL...

My beef bias comes from owning a 560, two 561's two 550's one 551, a 0300, 0301, two 0200's and three 0350 variants...

I believe ZT is past the old stage. Who knows what the future holds. Of all their production models I think only 0909 fits right in with the old real beefy line!

That one is definitely a looker.

I'll keep hoping for some retro throwback models... ;):foot:

We were talking about the popularity is manual action thumb stud opening knives vs assisted knives not multi-tools and friction folders.

I have a feeling the success of the 0909 will directly impact the future of the super beefy military type stuff.

Yeah I knew of the 0200 and 0560 series, I'm thinking I just forgot the 0300 was as well.

I agree. I believe they were past it even last year. I can appreciate art edc knives, as that's what I see their new direction as, and I do want some of them (0452cf, 0456, 0808) but I also wish they'd continue the old style line. They have the one knife this year at least (0909), maybe two (0804cf).

All of these knives looked wayyy better in video.

The 456 is my favorite

It's a too heavy for my tastes though.

It would have really completed the overall package if they replaced the stamped clip with a machined To clip.

It seems m390/CPM 20cv/ cts 204p

Is set to be the new s30v of 2016
