6 New Zero Tolerance Folders Announced at the 2016 SHOT Show

Gotta say im pretty stoked about the zt0450cf. Probably because i like dlc blades, but really digging the cf and the green standoffs on it. I never did get around to getting the 450 so i might jump on this one.

I did get the ti 0450 and I'm still going to jump on that 0450cf. The green standoffs pushed me over the edge...I love lime green

If I decide to get the 0456 and feel frisky about it, maybe I'll do this:

And if I get really wild with it (and the construction allows):

Also, done on my phone, so couldn't make nice lines.

I was thinking along the same lines. If I can swing it, buy two, keep one stock, and modify the other. :-)

The more im looking at the line up, im taking a liking to the anso too. I like all the Anso collabs with the different knife companies this year. Just watched all the shot show knifehq vids on the tube.

^^why keep bringing up victorinox?? You may be right, but they arent really in the same market demographic....ultimately neither you nor i have access to sales metrics, so its a stupid argument....which is what i was trying to point out.

I don't really disagree. None of us have those figures. Which is what makes the statement that it's settled that a knife needs to be A/O to sell well so ludicrous.

Just looked over ZT's new offerings and I am a bit disappointed. The only knife they will be introducing that I will be interested in is the 450cf.

ZT should have at least added some thumstuds to the 909, even at 7oz+ I would have considered one.

I wish ZT made more knives under 5 oz. I have the 0770cf and love it. The 0566bwcf is in the mail. At 5.3 oz its heavier than I'm used to but we will see....

The 0566 is not too heavy IMO. It's a little beast of a knife that hides nicely in your pocket. I would and do wear this knife with khakis/slacks at work. Out of all the ZT Hinderers, besides the 0392, the 0566 fits the best in my hand AND pocket. I have the CF M390 version and love it! You will love it and it's chunky 5.3 oz's as well.

However when not in the office I prefer my 0562CF, 0560BW or 0452CF more.

I really hate flippers. Especially flippers with no thumbstud/blade hole for secondary deployment.

0804CF-I'll probably order one because it fits the same general category as the Adamas and Manix 2XL. I wish this model was offered with a G-10 scale option.
0456- The design is growing on me, but I think the price is a little high for a 3.25 inch blade.
0450CF- No opinion
0095BW- A fancy version of the Kershaw Link.
0909 -I have mixed feelings on this one, the design looks okay but I hate how they reused the pocket clip from the 566 on it.

0220 -This was the first 2016 model I saw, and I hate the design (you might love it, just my personal opinion). What really ruined this one for me was the orange backspacer/lanyard hole. Who wants a lanyard hole sticking out of the handle, and of all the colors to go with they choose ORANGE. This looks like something a five year old child thought up while drawing a picture of a knife with crayons. In addition to that ugly backspacer, they put a little logo disc on the handle too. Why? I cannot take this one seriously, and the MSRP is $285! Who are they trying to sell this one too?

My only other comment is this: Why can't ZT produce more models with blades under the three inch length? So far they only have the 0900.

0456 has premium CTS-204P stainless steel, nice titanium milling and blue anodized hardware so a street price of $240 (MSRP $300) is pretty good. My issue with it is the 6.56 ounces weight for a 3.25" blade.

ZT is seriously lacking where it comes to blade lengths of 3 inches or less!

I totally agree on the 0220. I actually like the design, but then they had to put the lanyard hole sticking up out of the handle so it can dig into your hand. I dunno. I mainly like the Sinkevich design, and the 0450cf.

That is too bad, but the good news is that there are literally TONS of manufacturers from all over the world that can give you a product that is exactly what you want. From production to customs to mid techs, the sky is the limit. It's good to know what one doesn't like, that way they don't waste their time looking at those things and pondering the why didn't they, why is there not, etc. Good luck in your quest.

Sorry you feel that way. I hate flippers with thimbstuds or secondary deployment. Ruins the clean look of the blade and its a compromised design. You can't make a great flipper with a great detent that is also a good knife to open with studs/disc/hole. Once you introduce the secondary deployment method, you water down the fliper action.

What about the Spyderco flippers? The hole doesn't compromise anything at all. What an absurd statement.

I disagree. I don't find that a strong detent takes away from thumbstud/thumbhole opening at all, I like a strong detent on all knives.

The 0560s I've had have all been great flippers and easy to open with the thumbstud.

I do, however, like thumbstuds to be removable.

why does every knife have to be all one colour

what about mixing it up a bit like this... also remove that horrible backspacer

Many like secondary opening mechanisms on flippers while many others prefer a clean blade with no thumb studs or holes.

Even with the Spyderco hole it usually adds unnecessarily to the overall width or a hump to the blade. I think even Spyderco realized that not all people like having that extra width or hump so they came up with two different models of the Mantra flipper to satisfy both parties. If you want a flipper only opening mechanism with a narrow width blade you go with Mantra 2 where the Spyderco hole is purely decorative acting as the trademark. If you want both flipper and thumb hole opening there's the Mantra.

Not all knife makers are willing to go that far in catering to customer needs/wants. Lot of choices out there. Personally, I prefer a flipper only opening mechanism.
