#6375 Case Large Stockman

This is one of my favorite patterns by case! I generally don't find stockmans to be the best fit for me, but this pattern is better than the sum of its parts. I had one in amber bone cv and it was a haus of a knife, That sheepsfoot blade would do some serious work! I lost mine a while back sadly, I keep hoping it will turn up eventually.

Bringing this great thread back to life with an update to my post(#251). I dyed the amber bone on mine to something I like a little better:

It's not quite so rich looking now, four months later, but it still looks good. It's had a lot of pocket time and use in the garden and orchard.

I love the Amber bone, but that is a lot better!

RIP John Deere stockman.
This knife was a life saver on the farm, it cut the stems off a few hundred pumpkins, separated a lot of hay bales and sliced many tomatoes for lunch in the field. It got abused more than any knife I ever owned and only ever asked for more. It lost a lot of steel, but it had miles to go.

What happened to it?? Sounds like a marvelous knife!

It was either lost in a housefire, or in the destruction of the house afterwards. The knife held a ton of memory’s in it. It was gifted to me by my grandparents after I started working on a farm, the John Deere Case stockman rode in my pocket while I spent hours on an old model A pulling wagons, it seemed fitting. I didn’t even mind not having the shield after it was lost in the field.

In post #1 of this thread the OP ( arizonaranchman arizonaranchman ) said:

"My fascination with the Stockman pattern is a recent one, but it's definitely become a favorite. I now have two - the #66 Northfield Calf Roper and now this large Case Stockman in Amber bone. Someone here once referred to the large Stockman as "the anti-Peanut"... I must say YES IT IS! Lol"

It is a Big Knife and one I only carry during winter in a topcoat, but it's a very pleasing authentic knife and something of a bargain too  Americans and non-Americans alike appreciate its virtues:cool:

Thanks, Will
