710 being Discontinued

Now, going into 2017... No 806, no 710, no 730, no 615, no 908, no 586, no 707, no 525. The 62 and 581 are still hanging around.

I didn't realize the 707 was gone, too. I've always preferred the 705 as the perfect little brother to the 710 as it's deliberately almost identical. Of course the 705 didn't last long at all and was replaced soon-after by the 707 Sequel. I like the blade shape but don't care for aluminum handles, so I stayed away. One of the 705s I bought was offered with a second set of scales--DOAT CFs--which I was told would also fit the Sequel. I bought those as well figuring I'd pick up a 707 some day and fit the CFs on that, as I really like my 705s stock.

Though I've looked, I haven't run into a 707 on the Exchange, so with the discontinuation I just pulled the trigger on one before they're all gone. I should have it Thursday and will find out if the CF scales actually do fit.

Yep, they're done, though BM's Shot Show knife this year is a 707 with an S30V blade and sculpted aluminum scales so BM must think they're at least a little popular still...

Well that really, REALLY sucks!!!

Such a classic knife! The 710 and 943 are iconic BM knives (and two of my favorite EDC's), and I can't imagine either of those models being discontinued! :( :thumbdn:

I shouldn't be awake, yet here I am, lying in bed and finding this thread, which in turn caused me to buy 3 discontinued BM knives from KW (710D2, 710-1401, and an RSK-MK1). :o Now what to sell?

Well I just went ahead and ordered myself a standard 710. I've been debating on it and a few others so figured if I want one I better grab it before its gone.

good call. youll be happy you did. it is one of the best large folder benchmade designs of all time. carries much smaller than it is.

The original axis lock. I have one myself and was selling it but when i found out its being DC i took it of the selling block

I have an older 710 with an m390 blade that is a great edc. I just got the KW exclusive and it is a superb knife. I m glad I have these two. What s the next to be discontinued? The Griptilian? Benchmade isn t the same company.

I was lucky enough to find almost unused 710 with 154CM steel. Thinking abut buying another in D2. Until are sold everywhere...

Well, just placed an order for one. In my defense it had been on my wannit list. But, yeah, I succumbed to the discount. :)

I have two new ones in house as of a couple days ago. Carrying the M390 today. The new D2 sits in the safe, and will likely get some upgraded DOAT scales in the near future.

Hey SP!! How are you liking the -1401 bro??
That one is my favorite!! I have a 710-2 also......love that one also!! Such an awesome design, still can't believe they discoed it.

Loving it so far Joe! I'm a fan of the steel, and have been eyeballin' a -1401 for far too long. I should NOT have waited so long (almost too long...).

I feel the same brother!!
My sons got it for me and had their initials engraved!
It's a very special one SF!!
Aside from that special attribute, I had S Ketchen make some scales!
Absolutely love this knife!!

Yeah, I've seen pics of that one! Love the different blue G10's! I'll probably leave my -1401 as-is, since the scales on mine arrived with a lot of blue, and I'm OK with that!:D Only decent pic I have so far:

(Cropped from a bigger pic.)

(Next to my old 710D2, one of the earliest of the production line when they made the switch to D2.)

My 710 D2 was my first "real" knife, I hate when companies discontinue such iconic blades. I always wanted a plain edge (mine is serrated) and might have to pull the trigger now even though I've just spent $500 on knives this month.

$120 NIB, TYD from KnifeWorks right now. ;) (And probably not much longer...)

Here's a new thread where BMK lovers can Show Us Your Discontinued Benchmades. I'm willing to accept being called a BMK fan-boy, but I'll be careful, as the last time I used that term I was termed passive-aggressive.

Maybe they don't make 'em any more, but we still got 'em. I know I won't be letting any of mine go.

You ARE quite aggressive Steve......passive??? Not so much!!!

Received my 710-1401 yesterday. Great knife!
I have serveral 710HS knives, one of which I edc and love since 2005, but I must say that this nicely chamfered handle adds a lot to the knife.
I believe the M390 will hold up to the M2 I am used to.
I really like my 1401, in fact I just ordered another one. I might sell it sometime, but better be safe than sorry😀
