#77 Barlow 2016 - What configuration would you like?

MerryMadMonk ::: Thanks for the recap Al !!!!! It is really nice to have all that Info close .

I'd love to see a Spear blade with peachseed antique yellow handles or snakewood.

There are a couple woods that would compel me to get this knife regardless of any other specs: Lignum Vitae, palo santo ... And probably ironwood. It sounds like it's going to a neat one no matter what the final form is.

Lignum Vitae with a spear main would seal the deal for me. No question it would be a classic.

I like the clip point barlows, and clip points in general.
I also like a secondary pen blade, or full size wharnclife secondary.
I like colorful handle materials.
Not too much fan of acrylics. No particular reason.

I keep checking this thread in an effort to determine if a production time frame has been announced. So far, nothing...

Sure glad I don't have to decide what configuration gets built. There sure are a lot of suggested combinations here.

How about something on a frame about 4". I like something a bit larger than the #15 but a granddaddy or the northwoods madison barlow are too big at 4 1/2 to 5".

Oops. Yes, my bad. I've been following the thread for a while and don't even notice the title anymore. Just had Barlow in my head and forgot we are working on a #77.

For covers, I'd like to see midnight micarta, paper micarta, and of course ivory bone... I'm liking the micartas that don't have a "grain" here recently and resemble bakelite and the older micarta knives.

For blades, a clip with a coping or mini-wharncliffe secondary. The wharncliffe on the coyote would make an awesome secondary blade I think.

Has there ever been a run of 77s with a spey similar to the New Day TCs?

Oh and steel Bolsters!

Orrrrrr... How about a stainless version with an acorn etch/engraving on the bolster rather than the NF? I'd most certainly be in on that!

I'm going to second my request for 440C and a clip point blade, but I'm going to ADD a long match striker pull like that of the 85. That would be slick...

Yea to 440C clip and coyote-cliffe. Marchstrikers and micarta all around. An Acorn stamp?! Why the heck not! It was a fine shield and they shouldn't have killed it!

Barlows traditionally don't have shields....

(Rough Rider gets a pass because they're $10 so nobody expects fidelity to patterns at that point ;)

Yep that's why it'd be an Acorn stamp, on the bolsters. I was echoing jfowl's sentiment there.

I do realize there's just no way they'd change the bolsters stamp on this SFO but since he's asking what it is I'd like to see...

We can hope. Mike did make a comment a while back that suggested he'd be willing to do 440C. Heck, I'd even be glad to have O1 and the NF stamp if GEC would run that on these. I just want more edge retaining bang for my Barlow buck, ya know?

Something exactly like this but in different covers ;)

Regardless of what the choices are I'm sure I can find something I'd like. Looking forward to this.
