A 2016 Forum Knife. An apology, and The Crossroads!

I don't mind a Jack with both blades off the same end, as long as the closed tangs don't cause a hot spot. Are 420 and canvas micarta off the table?

I don't think anything is off the table just yet! However, I for one would prefer something a little higher end over 420:)

Onespfrk-i've seen a couple of four bladed case cattle knives for 2 or 3 hundred plus on fleabay. i know it's all inflated there, and they probably are rare but really? really? Whetstone39-thanks man, i try not to let that side out too often, sometimes people(wife) will hit you;). E'80-i don't think(could be wrong) gec goes higher end(er?) than 440c, which all being equal is pretty decent for folders as long as the heat treat is good(tho' that's true for any steel). i am curious if Waynorth is suggesting two full sized blades or one large and one small. anyone happen to know/make an educated guess? thanks, Neal

I hear you, but it seems like 420 is the only stainless that GEC works with. Given the right hardening it can be pretty decent.

They acutally use 440C stainless on their GEC branded stainless knives. In years past they made a few for Cripple Creek in 420 stainless but that was/is the rare exception for them to the best of my knowledge & recollection.

I'm in. Regardless of pattern. I want an old style ebony wood scale. Or not.....Carbon steel....1084? Or not.....Heck, don't mind me I'm In!!

The Case pics onespdfrk got me thinking again.

3 3/4 Cattle Knife
Clip with matchstriker long pull
Sheepsfoot
Awl
Natural canvas micarta
Shield - Bull head?

The discussion really took off today.

I like the Carpenter knife idea more and more.

I'm not sure how much weight my opinion should have in this discussion because I have not participated in any of the annual knives (primarily because I have had a very limited knife budget in recent years, although I was sorely tempted by the 2014 offering). However, if you want an old pattern that is not produced anywhere today that would probably get me to pry open my wallet if offered in gabon ebony it would be a faithful reproduction of the classic cokebottle, like this one:

Barehead would be the only way to go, either one or two blades.

Yes!!! This is exactly what I was visualizing. But....I will buy whatever. As long as it doesn't have a bail.:D No Bail's!!!!!

An Equal End Jack of Awl Trades?

I'm in.

:D

I like that, that'll work for me.

Has anyone mentioned a Sleeveboard Jack, like maybe a Coffin Jack?

My mistake, thanks for the correction.

Then it's settled. A bare ended coffin jack will be the next forum knife.
Thanks Charlie for all your hard work! :D

Has mine shipped yet?

I'm commencing a new job next week.Funeral assistant.A coffin jack could be just the thing for me this year.:)
