A 2016 Forum Knife. An apology, and The Crossroads!

Honestly, not on fire for a punch blade. Despite that, it sounds like a really nice knife. The Schatt pictured up there is a looker w/ that shield and dark (ebony?) wood.

Well I have watched with interest for 27 pages. :) I have not made a single comment, at least not in public. Charlie I say HJ9 is a wonderful idea. Count me in!

Charlie, that's a good punch. Do that with a drop point and it'd be a great field knife.

I have spent a few hours looking for an EE Carpenter's Jack in all the old catalogs I could find - to no avail.

To make an interesting knife, I have a proposal to make to you all, my forum friends!!

I was going to make a Harness Jack on the EE pattern one way or the other.
Since I made one when Bill was at Queen, I was always interested in a double end Jack format as another option. Let's make one as the Forum Knife.
We could call it my 9th HJ. I would forgo any profit of course! This would be your knife, influenced somewhat by me, that guy who usually makes HJs as SFOs.
Benefits:
A nice pocketable package - a single-spring knife. A knife that could be called an abbreviated Scout, because it has a utility blade good for punching holes, whittling, or striking a spark! A nice "pocket" (full-sized) blade would also cover a lot of bases, and there are precedents in old catalogs, showing it to be a traditional pattern.
As a committee we could pick the main blade, handles and shield.
What say you???

You have my vote. With some nice old school, jig bone handles. Sounds like a winner to me. Uh... 1095? :)

I like the punch on the HJ2. It looks similar in grinds to those found on the HJ's built on the #15 frame. They may not be as good at carving circles in leather than some of the other "scalloped" punches, but serves as a secondary blade as well as a punch. It's like a little flat blade of its own. Not a sheep or a wharnie, but it works.l, and it makes wholes, picks crevices, etc. I'm buying now matter what is made, but I'm not big on the spear. I know that is most traditionally correct, but I just prefer clip mains. Besides, it would make it different from your H2.........much appreciative and will be getting one no matter what. Thank you for your effort!!

I've seen quite a few EEs with Clip blades, so lean toward that one! As Eisman mentions, it's different.
Haven't seen any drop-points though, so tradition wins.
Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone!
Maybe this is the one!!??

I would definitely be in for that!:thumbup:

LOL :D

Edited to add: A resounding YES on the clip point!

Charlie, I can get 100% behind that! And it sounds like the process would be easier overall, so I say count me in and let's roll!

Clip, I can do clip. Probably have do do a couple of them.

Black jigged micarta would look a lot like the rough black scales they used in the pre-WWII era.

Oh, and I'd pick clip over spear all day long! I don't dislike spears, I'm just a little tired of them at the moment!

I'm in for the HJ with the wickedly sharp punch! In other words, ditto what r8shell said. 😀

I like Charlie's HJ proposal. Can GEC do a peachseed jigged bone?

I recently acquired a 2007 GEC knife with "chocolate" jigged bone. That color with a peachseed jig would be awfully cool.
