I don't think that Chris Reeves made it do to slight differences in the blade when it's closed but I think that it's a really interesting concept. Besides if the knife works well than it shouldn't matter who made it. It all depends on you weather the knife was worth the money. I would still buy it.

I wouldn't say the idea of a flipper is a concept....if they were going to make a flipper I'm guessing they would add a flipper tab to the Umnumzaan...that knife would be able to handle it easily.

First of all: Fakes are abominations (fake, clone or what ever you chose to call that thing).

CR knives are beautiful high quality knives with silly names, but man, when some of the more diehard fans get going.... (none in this thread so far of course).

At the risk of getting stoned by some of the more diehard (fanatic?) CR fans (some of them drank the KoolAid in copious amounts....and then some!:)): At first I thought, that a genuine CR flipper wouldnt be too shabby. I like flippers, what can I say, so whats the big deal.

Though after perusing the pics of the flipper fake next to the real deal, I agree; the lines of the knife are not all there. The Kershaw (a personal favourite of mine) is a far more accomplished design.

Apart from that, why shouldnt CR make a flipper. Has he stated that he dislikes flippers or are the vast majority of CR knife fans simply not interested in a CR flipper.
Personally, I far prefer flippers to buttons.

I like to browse certain disreputable websites .....
Ohh, you give us so much material to work with!:D

China doesn't have separate factories just for crap like this. No way.
They're making these knives in some of the same factories as their more popular "legit" knives that many people buy. One of the reasons why I'll never buy a knife made in China.

I like that. If the bladesteel is decent, they get my money.

I haven't read much of the thread, but I hope there wasn't many that thought this way.:thumbdn:

It gets outright disgusting with the "Idaho made" stamp. I feel insulted and I could vow to never buy any knife made in China (which severely, very severely restricts the range of the current market's offer). Crap.

Most CRK fans aren't interested.
There was a thread in the CRK room this year about if people would want a CRK flipper.
Almost all didn't want to see it, and I was one of them.

I'm not sure if Chris dislikes them, but he stated he wasn't interested in doing things that had been done already, such as flippers and slipjoints. I didn't hear it myself. A forum member was told that over the phone.

China isn't one singular company, you know. It's an incredibly large country with new businesses and factories opening daily. What do you base your statement on? Presumption or verifiable information?

It strikes me as a gross oversimplification that borders on xenophobia to swear off all Chinese-manufactured knives just because some manufacturers in the country produce shady products. That's like saying you'll never buy a bag of potato chips from the U.S. because a few manufacturers copy products from overseas.

What about US knifemakers? Will you never buy a U.S.-made knife because Microtech copied the 0777 with their Matrix design?

*drops mic*

It's pathetic that these companies continue to be allowed to sell these on eBay!! I only buy from authorized dealers or members here for this reason. (Not that I would be fooled by this beast:)

I haven't seen these specific knives on eBay, but, yeah, look up "tc4 knife" or "titanium d2" and you'll be awash in clones and counterfeits.

If you want to believe they have separate factories just for clones, and crap like this go ahead and believe it. That's fine, and doesn't affect me in the least.

These are built in a factory that already has knife making down. I don't think they're going to say "we shouldn't build these in the same factory, that would just be wrong". "I know it would cost a lot to build a separate factory right next door, but we must do it since its the right thing to do".

Just think about it. But like I said, It's fine if people doesn't believe they could ever do such a dishonorable thing in China. None of my business what people choose to believe.

I remember being told that the Chinese government gets the plans and patent information before any company can make products there. Therefore it is real easy to copy any product made in China.
