Scrim,

Took me a while to digest your question. There have been some knives that I WANTED to say were better than expected but unfortunately often they were disappointments . . . some have even winged their way back to the sender / maker. I still bear the trauma of those experiences, each has left an indelible mark, . . . only to be somewhat quelled by a good sharpening session or using the knife I am about to post as the diamond in the rough (not so rough but some keep wanting to "improve" it).

I bought this FOR THE HANDLE / SHAPE that most every one seems to want to immediately change. Then the better pocket clip (parkerized) and yes it has a blade in it of some steel I had (at the time) never heard of . . . OK, OK, I said . . . I just want that handle so send it to me already.

Benchmade, Griptillian, Doug Ritter, Bladeworks Exclusive M390

THENNNNNNNNN I got it and began to use it.

HEY ! This thing cuts stuff ! Really well ! For a long time !
I began to wonder if I would ever have to sharpen it.

So yah this thing REALLY surprised me. Easier to work the lock than I could have imagined (want to discuss that one further but about the 710). The action is really nice and was from day one.

PS: . . . oh . . . and I still like the handle.

GB,

Is there a thread where we could discuss this 710 without highjacking this thread ?

Hey bagger,
Check the BM forum. I'll write something up. It will take me a little bit.

GB,
Cool. . . Thanks.

Thanks for posting these ! I am really enjoying the ultra modern look.

Case Sodbuster
Case definitely deserves recognition.
Yup. Polished liners . . . other modern companies could take a minute or two there. They just stamp 'em out and slap 'em in . . . "that'll be two hundred dollars please". (and they don't even say please).

And you know what ? Of about everything on the table here I would reach for your Sodbuster as the best everyday use, in town, blade shape. That or the Dddrees knife.

Dddrees
What maker is your knife ? ?

As for some of the rest of you 'astards (no comments no photos) you are making me work for it but I'm learning stuff
THANKS :)

Very nice.

Thank you DD!! I love a great flipper with a large heavy blade. Also love the fact the thumb studs can be used to open, along with being blade stops.
Stupid comfortable in hand too!

I've not seen a BF Forum specific to Case Knives; so I searched tonight on those words. Still don't understand all the nuances of "search" functions, but it brought me to the General Knife Discussion forum. This thread title caught my interest, so decided to post my new Case 7207 SS, a special edition collaboration with Henry RAC, which I just got this week.

This knife "blew me away" for a reason other than good usage. I have a very small knife collection, and use most all of them. This Case will not be used, but for me will be a "collectible." I'd like to find a display case for it, as well. [And yes, I'm a Henry rifle owner]. So this was a special buy. What most of all impressed me was the wood handle. Along with the knife and a leather Case sheath, the knife box had a "Certificate of Authenticity" from Case describing the wood they used. This added to the uniqueness of the knife for me. Here is that description. Following that are some photos of my "keeper" Case.

"This Case Knife is hand-crafted using only centuries-old wood from Antique River Logs.

This Certificate guarantees that this wood originated from timbers harvested during the great logging booms of the late 18th & 19th centuries and was reclaimed from the rivers of Kentucky.

These logs have been preserved by deep, cold water and the absence of light and oxygen for more than 200 years.

Your Case Knife celebrates the journey of a truly American Harvest.
You hold in your hand not only a natural treasure,
But a unique piece of living history."

Kershaw Volt II SS... $16 dollars later I can't believe the feel of this knife. Makes me very excited for the Spyderco Advocate :D

Personally I'm not a fan of big heavy things, but I do like how that blade looks.

Its been a while since I bought a "cheap" knife but a few weeks ago I picked up a Buck Bantam on a whim and I have been pretty impressed by it. Not a fancy steel but nobody does 420HC better than Buck. I really like the blade shape and the Kryptek camo handles look great. The knife feels excellent ergonomically too. Only $25!!
