A Matched Pair: GEC + Case

Sowbellyx2.jpg

When I showed this pair to my son, he loved the Gator 's swamp green, and said "the shrimp is very nice too". I had never noticed the upside down Case logo looked like... a shrimp !

That's is less annoying than the French railway's TGV (high speed train) former logo.

Evil spirits soon noticed that it was the world's fastest snail ! 😂😂😂

Some things just go together cause you’re eyes like them together. I like the Micarta with the sycamore. I also like a big single bladed knife with a stockman. Have a great day!

I love seeing these combos you guys are posting. I’m a sucker for a good GEC/Case pair.

I wish Case would go back to the "natural" sycamore on more models.... preferably with CV/carbon steel... that Tribal is wonderful.... if only CV...

I agree 100%. The natural finish was a home run.

Annnnnd CV/CS. Don’t we all wish that more people just thought like us knife nuts??? These practical SS people keep on raining on our patina parade!

Medium Serpentine Bone Jacks
Solid show of knives John! Fun to see these pairs.

Your son has a good eye! I love the Gator/Shrimp combo. Sowbellies are stealing the show.

And for my final submission of my vacation week…

Daddy longlegs, aka Muskrat Love, is paired up with the 77 Barlow. Why not? Wouldn’t you want to want to have options for slicing apples and slicing squirrels? I surely would.

Thanks for joining in and sharing that GEC/Case love. I’m here just trying to do my part to UNITE THE CLANS! 😁

I figure I’d fold any future pairings into Will’s Notable Pairs thread and actually make my pairings like a knife guy - not like an interior designer or fashion consultant! You know - two stockmans, two barlows, two sodbusters…not…this looks like a nice pair of slacks and a turtleneck! 😂

Have a great one!

Digging that muskrat. Very nice.

Keep fighting the good fight.
They are both great American pocket knife companies and both deserve our respect.

I'd say that falls into the practical pairing category, they compliment each other nicely. 🤠

My father-in-law got me into knives and he is a dyed in the wool Case guy. He has about 500-600 knives that I enjoy perusing when I visit. Half of my Case knives were gifts from him and have great sentimental value. I tried to turn him onto GEC but he just couldn’t get down with the scramble. Still, he has 10 or so nice GEC’s. I’ll always greatly appreciate Case and enjoy carrying their knives. I really hope to expand my collection over the years of older Case knives. Such great examples of American cutlery. Alas, I’m taking my time…4 kids and tight budgets don’t allow for quick collecting in this season of life. But I can go slow and pick up a knife here and there as I go. It’s been a fun hobby to pick up that doesn’t take away from the kids like golf or even woodworking does. Cheers!
